This microscopic view shows a cross section of a vessel that has been entirely occluded by a thrombus and subsequently recanalized. The wall of the vessel is seen as a pink rim encircling the whitish thrombus. There are two areas of recanalization visble. They are the bright pink areas seen within the thrombus at 5 o'clock and 11 o'clock .
