Carrie Jameson sat the cup of coffee and piece of apple pie on the table in front of
her mother. She knew her mom was here for more than a chat. So, Mom, why don t
you tell me why you re here? She took a sip of her coffee and a bite of pie.
Do I have to have a reason to be here? I just thought I d drop by and see how
you were doing. I know it has to be hard to be single again.
Mom, don t bring up Reed again. I m over him and I don t want to talk about
it.
I heard there s a new cowboy in town. He s supposed to sing at the Broken
Spur tonight. Are you going?
Aha! I knew you weren t here just for a mother and daughter talk! You know I
have a penchant for cowboys. You knew I d told Laura I was going. Her mother told
you, and here you are!
What the hell is it about you and cowboys? What turns you on so much about
them?
Tight jeans, great ass, and a voice to melt your heart!
Carrie! What a way to talk to your mother!
 You asked!
You don t have to be so crude about it.
That s the only language you understand. I m twenty-five years old, not a
virgin, and I can see who I want. I practice safe sex and have a purse with condoms in
it. I know what I m doing. There s nothing wrong with a girl that has a healthy sexual
appetite.
My Lord, if your father could hear you right now!
Carrie watched her mother fan her face. Probably another hot flash. It
wouldn t do you any harm to go out and date a little. It just might improve your
attitude. Daddy wouldn t want you to shrivel up and not live your life.
Your father was the only man for me. I miss him something terrible, she
sniffed.

I m sorry, Mom, but why don t you come with me to the Broken Spur. There are
lots of unmarried men there and some hotties, too.
What would the church ladies say?
Well some of the single ones go there. You know Judy Illian? She goes and
Mara Dorms goes, too. They dance the night away and have fun. They don t drink, but
they have fun.
 In a den of iniquity?
Oh, that s hogwash and you know it. Going to a bar doesn t make you a sinner.
What do you say? I ll pick you up even.
 Well& I don t know.
Hey mother and daughters can go out together, can t they?
Yes, but what if you want to leave with someone?
Then you can take my car home and bring it over tomorrow.
Alright. I give in. Besides I can keep an eye on you and see what this cowboy
looks like that has all the girls in town raving about him.
Great, then I ll pick you up at eight, Carrie said, finishing her pie and coffee.
When her mother grabbed her purse, she hugged her. Eight o clock sharp.
 What do I wear?
Whatever you want. Slacks and a nice blouse or jeans and shirt.
Okay, I ll see you in a little bit. It s already getting late.
Carrie walked her mom to the door, waved, and ran to take a shower. She had to
get ready. She needed to get out, have a few drinks, and have some fun. Even though
her mom was going to be there, she wasn t going to let her cramp her style.

The Broken Spur was rowdy and living up to its reputation. Music pounded the
air from the jukebox and the dance floor was crowded. Let s sit over there, Mom,

Carried yelled, pointing at a booth right beside the stage. They d be able to see the new
cowboy sing without any problem.
As they made their way to the table, Carrie got a few slaps on the ass and
squealed in good-natured humor. This was her territory and she loved it. When they
got settled at the table and had their drinks, an older gentleman walked up to her
mother. Would you like to dance, Ma am?
Carrie about choked on her drink at the frightened look on her mom s face. Go
ahead. Have some fun!
Well, I don t dance very well and it s a fast song, she said, just as a slow song
began to play.
Carrie grinned as the man reached out and took her mom s hand and led her to
the dance floor. Way to go, Mom! she yelled, as Laura walked up to her table.
Hey, isn t that your mom out there with that good looking older man?
Yeah, thought she could use some fun for a change.
Well, she s lucky. That s the cowboy s dad she s dancing with.
Carrie sat up straighter and stared at the man. That s Clint Brandon s father?
Yep, and I think he likes your mom too by the way he s hugging her close.
Good, and look who s coming on stage. I swear he s pure eye candy! she said
as Clint strode out on stage, guitar in hand, to stand before the microphone. As he
introduced himself, Carrie couldn t help but let his voice tickle her fancy as her mother
used to say about her dad. He had shoulder length black hair, light blue eyes, and a
darkly tanned, handsome face. A black tee shirt stretched over his muscled chest, blue
jeans with a belt buckle sporting a rodeo cowboy, and tight fittin' jeans that ran from a
narrow waist, down long legs. She could just imagine those wrapped around her as she
rode him. Wow, Laura, he is hot!
Just wait until you hear him sing, she said, as he strummed the guitar and
began to sing a popular love song.
Melt my heart cowboy, she laughed, as his eyes turned towards her. She
flashed him a bright smile, when her mother and the man returned to the table.

This is Clinton Brandon, Clint Brandon s father, Carrie and Laura.
Carrie smiled and reached out her hand. Pleasure to meet you, she said, as
Laura nodded at him.
I must say that you inherited your mother s good looks. Both of you have long
blonde hair, gray blue eyes, and well& if I may be so bold, bodies to make a man look
more than twice.
Carrie laughed as her mother s cheeks reddened. Well thank you, Clinton. You
and your son look alike too and are hotties in my book.
My son will join us as soon as he takes a break.
That will be nice, and in the meantime, I m going to see if I can find someone to
dance with.
You shouldn t have to go far. I see several men at the bar ogling you.
Carrie stood and walked over to ask Bret Carmine to dance. Not very many
women liked dancing with him, but she enjoyed his company. He was shy and always
a gentleman and she didn t want to get attached to any other man tonight. She wanted
to get to know Clint. You want to dance, Bret, and pass some time?
Yeah, Carrie, he said, leading her out onto the dance floor. Where did Laura
go?
I think to the ladies room. You like her, don t you?
Yeah, she s cute. I like girls that are short and have that look in their eyes.
 What look is that?
Ah, Carrie, you know what I mean.
Yeah I do, she said, as he swung her around until they were dancing right in
front of Clint. She looked up and saw a wide smile spread across his sensuous mouth.
White teeth flashed, contrasting with his deep tan. Gosh but he was handsome, and
there was a dimple in his cheek that she d love to stick her tongue into. She wondered
what other sweet dents of flesh he hid behind his clothes. She smiled and winked at
him as the song ended and Brett took her back to the table. She thanked him and

watched as he looked at Laura. She kicked Laura under the table. Wouldn t you like
to dance next with Brett?
Well sure, Laura got up and took Brett s hand, moving off towards the bar to
await the next song.
Carrie ordered another drink when Clint came over to the table. Dad, you got
room here for me? You don t need two women do you?
Clinton laughed. Just scoot in there beside Carrie. I m going to take this lady
out for a breath of fresh air.
Clint laughed as he scooted in beside her. So, since dad s escaped with his new
woman, what do you say we get to know each other?
I m Carrie Jameson and that was my mom with your dad.
Great to know you, Carrie, and I can t blame dad for taking off with your
mom.
Mom will be safe with him, won t she?
Oh sure. I couldn t believe that dad was dancing. That s the first time he s
done that since mom died two years ago. I m happy he found a woman he liked
finally.
That s nice because mom hasn t either. My dad died too.
 I m sorry.
Yeah, me too. So, do you go around singing?
Sometimes, but dad and I moved here. Dad is a businessman and is opening up
an office here.
 Really?
Yeah and you aren t taken or anything like that, are you?
 No.
 Live alone?
 Yes.
 Know where this is leading?
 Yes.
For Love of a Cowboy 8 Cia Leah
 And you don t mind?
No, because I d just love to stick my tongue in your dimple. She grinned as he
leaned back and looked at her, and then burst out laughing.
I think I d like to do the same to that sweet dent of flesh in your cheek too, but I
have to get back on stage. You ll be waiting when I get done singin ?
 You bet, Cowboy.
