Someone who is subject to the world is, by definition, not a ruler of the world. Conversely, a ruler of the world, by definition, is not subject to the world. Absolute Kings are not dragged through the streets, grotesquely abused and beaten nearly to death by foreign troops occupying their country, then condemned to a horrible execution for other people's crimes. That, in essence, is why there must be two comings of Jesus Christ. Consider how differently the purpose of Christ's two comings are described in the Holy Scriptures, the first, then the second:
"He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from Him; He was despised, and we esteemed Him not. Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and The Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all." (Isaiah 53:3-6 KJV)
"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew, but He Himself. And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His Name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of kings, and Lord of lords" (Revelation 19:11-16 KJV)
But Who Is Jesus Christ Preparing The Way For?
Jesus Christ paid the penalty for the sins of all who repent and obey God (Christ did not die for sinners; He died for repentant sinners - unrepentant sinners are headed for the lake of fire). But His sacrifice at the time of His first coming and His return to establish the Kingdom of God on earth are not ends in themselves. They are two vital steps in preparing the way for Who will come after that has been accomplished, as the Kingdom of God plainly states.
"Then cometh the end, when He shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when He shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign, till He hath put all enemies under His feet." (1 Corinthians 15:24-25 KJV)
After the Son of God has accomplished all that The Father assigned Him to do, God is coming to earth.
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."
"And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful."
"And He said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son." (Revelation 21:1-7 KJV)
