Commencing Countdown, Engines On

It begins at different times for different people, but everyone, sooner or later, has, or will, as far as their salvation is concerned, reach a point of no return. Everyone, figuratively speaking, is sitting on a launch pad, with the count down to zero, all engines roaring to life - but whether it becomes a launch vehicle, or, ultimately, a giant firecracker, is up to the pilot of "Salvation One" - you. Eternal life, or eternal death, will be the result of the sustained choice that each of us have taken for ourselves after the knowledge of the Truth has been made available.

God Speed, or God's Damnation - It's Up To You

The adult Israelites of the Exodus were made to wander in the wilderness as a death sentence for refusing the opportunity to enter the promised land when it was given to them. The journey itself did not require 40 years to complete, since the spies had just traveled there, accomplished their mission, and returned - all in 40 days (Numbers 13:25). Those unrepentant ones are a prime physical example of the spiritual Damnation choice that people make for themselves.

"Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me: Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed The Lord. And The Lord's anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of The Lord, was consumed." (Numbers 32:11-13 KJV) (see A Journey Without A Destination)

God forgives and grants salvation to the truly repentant. Those who reject the sacrifice of the Savior by refusing to obey Him "crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put Him to an open shame":

"For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned" (Hebrews 6:4-8 KJV)

"For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?" (Hebrews 10:26-29 KJV)
