SUBJECT: EV-1 REVISED ACCELERATOR WIRING
Wire #20 was wire #30
A production change has been made to the accelerator circuit wiring on trucks equipped with EV-1
controls.
Wire #20 in the accelerator circuit is battery negative. On previous EV-1 controls, wire #20 is connected
to terminal R4 on the EV-1 card. It attaches to battery negative through a circuit inside the EV-1 card.
With this arrangement, it is possible for an overload in the accelerator circuit to cause an EV-1 card failure.
To prevent this possibility, the wiring has been changed so that wire #20 is no longer connected to battery
negative through the EV-1 card. Wire #20 is now connected to battery negative (wire #13B) at the main
truck terminal strip. See the schematic on page 2.
NOTE: Refer to the wiring diagram in the information pouch of each truck for details about specific
truck wiring.
On EV-1 equipped trucks built prior to the effective serial number, the accelerator negative circuit can be
routed external to the EV-1 card by following the procedure on page 3.
INTERCHANGEABILITY:
Either arrangement will operate satisfactorily. The production change was made to reduce the possibility of
EV-1 card failure due to an overload in the accelerator negative circuit. Rewiring at a convenient time is
recommended.
PARTS STOCK:
Not affected.

Accelerator Circuit Wiring Revision Procedure
1. Disconnect wire #20 from R4 of the EV-1 main control card and tape the wire back against the
harness. Also locate and disconnect the other end of the same wire #20 that is attached to the main
truck terminal strip and tape it back.
2. Make and install a wire from the main truck terminal strip (terminal from which wire #20 was removed
in step 1) to the upper left hand connection point of the hydraulic pump motor contactor (where cable
2P2 is connected). Identify the new wire as #20-1.
3. On E60-100 trucks only, in addition to steps 1 and 2 above, disconnect the other wire #20 from R4 of
the EV-1 main control card and also from terminal 3 of the Auxiliary Plugging Card. Tape both wire
ends back against the harness. Make and install a wire from terminal 1 of the Auxiliary Plugging Card
to terminal 3 of the Auxiliary Plugging Card. Identify the new wire as #13-1.
4. Note the wiring changes on the wiring diagram enclosed in the information pouch of the truck.
