Subject: E30-50FR Electrical Wiring
Certain E30-50FR lift trucks equipped with either mast or overhead guard mounted working lights
without an auxiliary select switch in the operator display panel, may be equipped with some unneces-
sary wires in the harnessing inside of the operator display panel
Note: If a truck does not have working lights or, if there is a light switch and an auxiliary select switch,
this procedure does not need to be performed.
Due to a possibility of the wires contacting the printed circuit boards, it is necessary to remove the
unused wires in this harness.
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Discharge the capacitor bank.
Note: Discharge the capacitor bank by turning the key on after disconnecting the battery. The
display will come on and then go out, indicating the capacitor bank is discharged.
3. Remove the top cover. Refer to the Service Manual
4. Scribe a line along the side of the operator display assembly at the top of the mounting bracket.
This will assist in returning the operator display assembly to the proper position during reas-
sembly.
5. Loosen but do not remove the four screws securing the operator display assembly to the
mounting bracket.
6. Remove the eight (8) T-20 torx head screws securing the display cover to the system controller
base.
Note: The key switch and the light switch are connected to the circuit boards inside the
operator display assembly, use care when removing the display cover. Gently lift up on the
cover and rotate it away from the operators compartment to gain access to the inside of the
operator display assembly.

7. Remove the display cover.
8. Using a pair of fine wire diagonal cutters, remove any wire from the circular plug in the base
plate of the Operator display panel that are not connected to the switches in the cover. These
wires must be cut as close to the solder connection as possible so there is no possibility of a
short circuit.
9. Replace the display cover and secure it in place with eight (8) t-20 torx head screws.
10. Replace the operator display assembly into the mounting bracket.
11. Align the scribe marks on the side of the display cover with the edge of the mounting bracket.
Tighten the four mounting screw.
12. Replace the top cover.
13. Connect the battery.
