ZADANIE 3
Zapoznaj się z zadaniami podanymi poniżej. Usłyszysz dwukrotnie raport na temat
alkoholizmu wśród młodzieży. Z podanych możliwości wybierz właściwą - zgodną z treścią
podanych informacji. Zakreśl literę a, b, c lub d.
Attention: All Parents
Most parents, quite rightly, worry about their children trying drugs. They want to know the
risks and what to do if they suspect their child is using drugs. But - as many teachers,
hospital staff and police officers will tell you - alcohol can cause just as many problems for
young people.
1,000 children under the age of 15 are admitted to hospital each year with acute alcohol
poisoning.
Around half of pedestrians aged between 16 and 60 killed in road accidents have more
alcohol in their blood than the legal drink drive limit.
In 1994, nearly 60,000 people were found guilty or cautioned for drunkenness. The peak age
of offenders was 18.
The above shows clearly that no matter how sensible and trustworthy your children are, it is
time to talk to them about drinking.
Children are aware of alcohol at an early age. They can recognise different types of drink.
Most children have their first alcoholic drink between the ages of 10 and 13. This
introduction usually takes place at home without their parents' knowledge. They help
themselves from the family drinks cupboard or at family occasions when adults aren't
watching.
By the age of 13 to 16, young people may be passing cans or bottles round a group
somewhere away from adults like a park or at parties. The group may drink quickly because
of fear of being found out. It doesn't take much for youngsters of this age to get drunk.
From the age of about 16, young people may start going to pubs. Drinking often means
getting drunk. Young people say getting drunk makes them feel good, more self-confident,
more "themselves". They say it's a way of escaping the pressures at home and school. They
say everyone else drinks, so why shouldn't they?
