Activating the GPS
You can use Garmin Mobile XT with the GPS turned on or off. However, some features may not work properly with the GPS turned off.
To activate the GPS:
1. (Bluetooth GPS only) Make sure your phone is set up to accept Bluetooth wireless connections.
2. Connect your phone to the GPS.
3. Select the Garmin Mobile XT icon from the main menu on your phone.
To receive satellite signals, you must be outdoors or in a vehicle and have
a clear view of the sky. If the GPS does not acquire satellites within a few
minutes, see Setting Your Location or
Troubleshooting for more information.

Viewing GPS Information for more information.
To conserve battery power, turn off the GPS when not in use.
