I've noticed that the BDE uses small packet sizes. Is there are way to adjust this?

Answer:

While the BDE does not explicitly request or know about packet sizes, the end result is that they are always small. In a LAN environment this works out fine. However, in a WAN environment this can result in a serious degradation of performance.

Using BDE to ODBC or ADO may cause less degradation to occur.
