Responsibilities

5.

Description of Routines

  • Bunkering can be carried out by taking on board drums (barrels of lubricating oil, etc.) from the shore or from other vehicles, as well as through pump connections via hoses from tank trucks, fixed plants or bunker barges.

  • When receiving drums, special attention is to be paid to correct handling during take-over and correct stowing and, where relevant, lashing. When pumping over from drums to tanks, the points in Check List CL-015 are to be observed when applicable.

  • The order quantity of the fuel, lube oils, etc. to be bunkered is to be specified by the Chief Engineer on the basis of free tank capacity and other parameters. The Managing Director can, with good reason, reduce this order quantity, but not increase it.

  • Before, during and after bunkering, the Check List CL-015 is to be rigorously followed.

  • In the case of accidents, the appropriate Emergency Response Plan is to be implemented.

  • When oil is being pumped over from one location to another, the Check List CL-015 is also to be rigorously applied.

  • Any special regulations issued by the bunkering port are to be adhered to.
