Aims of the course:

  • developing linguistic skills of the students by regular work with English texts

  • increasing students' comprehension of the written materials by various techniques, e.g. reconstructing the original sequence of paragraphs, providing the missing words, phrases and sentences, `reading between the lines', multiple choice comprehension checks, etc.

  • acquainting students with various styles, tones, registers of authentic English texts

Course and course credit requirements:

  • regular class attendance (2 unexcused absences are permitted) and active participation

  • satisfactory results in short vocabulary tests taken every 2, 3 meetings

  • satisfactory results in 2 reading comprehension tests
