cUMMARY
FROM „HINTERLAND" TO „INNOLAND" - THAT IS HOW TO DEYELOP THE RURAL AREAS
The hinterland areas are situated on the linę of 50 km from the developed coast-line or on the other meaning from metropolitan areas as we 11 as big city. Both mean-ing are related with rural areas but Coastal hintarland areas could but they haven't to be “poor" in economic, social and spatial sense. In the second meaning degree of problems connected with weak development of extra- urban districts are noticed. In the work there were analysed the rural areas in two regions with different charac-ter, historical, cultural and natural as well as spatial conditions include economic and social potential. Some areas in region Ostfriesland, which is situated in the north-west Germany, could be categorized to the first type of "hinterland" and the region of Warmia and Mazury to the second one.
There were descibed the necessity to introduct the directives which should be based on innovation activities. In this elaboration the innovation activities are de-fined as the scientific and educational as well as organisational ones.
