With the increased interest in designing original seed bead artwork and the widespread use of computers, we now have many beadwork graph papers available which reflect the one-side-longer-than-the-other ratio of seed beads. We don't have to contend with the dis-tortion caused by using the standard square ratio graph paper. These new beadwork graph papers are available for sizes 10° to 22° in the peyote stitch, the netting stitch, the righl-angle weave, the brick stitch and the herringbone weave.
To make the graphs in this book easier to use, we rec-ommend photocopying the graph of the project and coloring the beads of the photoeopy.
©Copyright: This permission to photoeopy is for your own use only.
Tape the photocopied graph to a board or table. You will need a guide to isolate the beads of each row. Choose a guide which is thin, does not have a distracting design and is wider than the graph.
Use Post-it™ correction tape (available from Office supply Stores) to hołd the guide in place and then reposition the guide as you work up the rows of the graph. Or tape the graph to a metal surface and use a magnetic strip as a guide.
How to read fiat peyote stitch graphs
Working from left to right, consecutively pick up all the beads of the base strand (rows one and two) beginning with bead one of figurę B-11. Then read row three from right to left. If the bead pattern is symmetrical, it is not necessary to alternate from one direction to the other when reading the graph.
Upon reaching the end of a row, move the guide upward a half a bead and reverse direction on the graph. Pick up the beads indicated by the whole beads below the guide (Figurę B-11).
