COLLAR

With RS facing, transfer back and left-front neck sts to needle holding right-front sts—103 (103, 111, 111, 115) sts total.

Join yarn to beg of right front and work 5 sts in seed st, work in St st to last 5 sts, work 5 sts in seed st. Cont in patt and complete buttonholes as established in last buttonhole section. Work even until collar measures 1". Work all sts in seed st for 5 rows. BO all sts loosely in patt.

SLEEVES

CO 51 (57, 61, 67, 69) sts. Work 5 rows in seed st. Work in St st until piece measures 4" from CO. Shape sleeve: Inc 1 st each end of needle every 8 (8, 6, 6, 4) rows 10 (11, 14, 14, 17) times—71 (79, 89, 95,

103) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 14K (15, 151/2, 16, 1614)" from CO, ending with a WS row. Shape cap: BO 5 (6, 8,

10, 10) sts at beg of next 2 rows, then 2 (2, 2, 3, 6) sts at beg of foli 2 rows. Dec 1 st each end every other row 5 (8, 9, 9,

10) times—47 (47, 51, 51, 51) sts rem.

Work even for 11 (9, 9, 13, 13) rows, ending with a WS row. *BO 1 st at beg of next 2 rows, then 2 sts at beg of foli 2 rows; rep from * 3 times—24 sts dec’d. BO 1 st at beg of next 2 rows, then 3 sts at beg of foli 4 rows—9 (9, 13, 13, 13) sts rem. BO all sts.

FINISHING

Use the three-needle BO (see Glossary) to join shoulder seams, making surę to pick up and work short-row wraps tog with wrapped sts as you BO. Set in sleeves and sew sleeve seams. Using mattress st (see Glossary), sew each side slit down 1" from joining row. Weave in all ends. Sleeve tabs (make 2): CO 5 sts and work in seed st for IV". Buttonhole row: Work 2 sts in seed st, yo, k2tog, work 1 st in seed st.

Work even for Vi”. BO all sts in patt. Machinę wash and dry sweater and tabs on gentle setting with cold water and air. Steam press each fold at the crease to make them flow naturally. Sew on buttons opposite buttonholes. Measuring 6" from the lower edge of the sleeve, sew a button in the center on RS. Place button through buttonhole in the tab. Turn sleeve inside out. On the inside of the sleeve measure 4" from the lower edge and sew CO edge of the tab, aligning it to the center. Rep for other sleeve. □
