PLACE MAT AND COASTER

PROJECTS

The place mat is madę up of panels of stitchcs twisted symmetrically to the left and right forming heart-shaped outlines in the stocking stitch (sce page 46). The panels arc separated by columns of moss stitch, which is also used to givc a firm edge round the mats. A single heart-shaped panel is used on the moss stitch coaster. A finał touch is a bandy pocket at the side to hołd cutlery.

Mat measures I3in (33cm) widc by lOin (25.5cm) side

Coaster measures 4in (lOcm) square

Worsted (DK) weight cotton (92yd/84m per bali) as follows:

3 x I ?4oz/50g balls in bright green

NEEDLES

Size 6 (4mm/UK8) needles Spare needle

Gauge (Tension)

22 sts and 29 rows to 4in (lOcm) measured over stoclonette (stocking) stitch on size 6 (*1mm/UK8) needles
