GENERAL NOTES

1.

THESE PLANS HAVE BEEN GENERATED FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO CONSTRUCT
THEIR OWN CNC ROUTER AND ACCEPT ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR DOING SO. NO

PERFORMANCE IS GUARANTEED AND NO LIABILITY IS ACCEPTED. USE THESE
PLANS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

2.

The tolerance for all dimensions are the same: fabricate these parts as accurately as

possible. But more importantly, the individual pieces shall be fabricated to provide a

square, straight, and even assembly. To this end, use fabricated parts as patterns for
similar pieces and match drill as necessary. Or, simply use an existing CNC router.

3.

Not every item is dimensioned. Non-dimensioned items align with other dimensioned
items.

4.

Non-dimensioned radiuses are non-critical. Generally, these were drawn at 1" or 2"
radius.

5.

The 10 mm holes have a corresponding 1/4" hole for a bolt and cross dowel combination.

In the event that the builder decides to glue, screw, and nail the assemblies, these holes
may be omitted and the corresponding bolts, washers, and cross dowels may be omitted.
Using this alternative provides an assembly which is quicker and easier to build, but may
not be as durable.

6.

Assuming 10kHz from a parallel port, maximum speeds are 1125 IPM for X and Y-axis (at

300 RPM) and 300 IPM for Z (at 3000 RPM - but not likely). Recommend simply getting

allows flexibility for future projects. This size initially seems to be overkill for the Z-axis,
but due to the lower torque at high speed this is appropriate (ultimately, it is this
decreasing torque which will limit the Z-axis speed).

7.

This project has been designed to be constructed with basic woodworking equipment,

predominantly a table saw, jig saw, drill press, hand drill, tape measure, dial calipers, etc.
Obviously, access to a CNC router would simply cutting the plywood parts but
construction is not dependent on it. The steel rails will require accurate grinding of the

on a skate (check the Internet for "CNC rail grinding skate"), or by using a mill. A flat hand
file has been used with acceptable results.

8.

Use of MDF or Particleboard is not recommended; they do not possess the tensile

strength of plywood and over time they deform (they sag under their own weight).
