Recommended oil types for lubrication, clutch hydraulics and seal fluid 

 
 

The propulsion unit uses well-known manufacturers mineral oils. The oils are EP-
additive based transmission oils meant for gear units under heavy load. The oil needs 
to have good pressure durability and FZG – number  > 12.  

Recommended oils are: 

 

BP Energol GR-XP 150 

 

Esso Spartan EP 150 

 

Texaco Meropa 150 

 

Shell Omala 150 

 

The purity grade of the used oil should be at least according to standard 17/14 ISO 
4406. The oils from suppliers do not normally fulfill the required purity grade. To 
achieve the required purity grade the oil is pumped, when filling the propulsor, through
