The NEW Dorman Smith Loadlimiter 63 distribution system promotes build
simplicity and versatility of final circuit management solutions up to 250A.
Included is a comprehensive range of MCB distribution boards and components
for commercial and industrial TP+N applications designed for easy compliance
with IEE 17th Edition Wiring Regulations and UK Building Regulations Part L2.

TP+N Distribution Boards
All TP+N distribution boards now incorporate additional cable spreading room to accommodate
single module RCBOs and MCBs in line with the new requirements of the IEE 17th Edition Wiring
Regulations (BS 7671:2008).

Integrated into the new design of the Loadlimiter distribution system is a versatile range of
integral metering products for compliance with Part L2 of the Building Regulations.

With flexibility paramount, the Loadlimiter 63 distribution system provides multiple metering
arrangements including single or split metering in either horizontal or vertical configurations and
rated 125A or 250A.

TP+N Accessories
Functionality was a key factor in the development of the Loadlimiter 63 distribution board range
and satisfying installers' concerns was imperative so accessories include 250A incomer housing
and meter spreader box with the facility for mounting two panel mounted meters and current
transformers. In addition the meter spreader box can also accommodate the 125A switch
disconnector and/or current transformer DIN-rail.

An incomer connection kit is available for fitting either a RCCB, contactor or 4-pole
switch disconnector.

Service centres have been extended to 18 & 36 modular ways respectively, complete with earth
and neutral bars.

Metering Solutions for Building Regulations Part L2

The impact of the UK Building Regulations Part L2, CIBSE TM39 and Energy Performance
Certificates has been taken into consideration when designing the new Loadlimiter 63 range.
It now offers a flexible and cost effective solution where metering can be easily implemented
at the distribution stage thus providing a convenient means of connecting to a building
management system or energy management system.

Why choose Dorman Smith Loadlimiter 63 L2 solution?

Supply chain
All solutions for L2 compliance are derived from standard components and can be supplied
loose through distribution or fully assembled by local affiliated partners.

Size flexibility
Dimensional constraints of split metered distribution board placement can be overcome using
either vertical, horizontal or dual pan-assembly distribution board arrangements without
compromising the number of outgoing ways required.

There are no limitations on the size of outgoing ways of power or lighting boards, only those
governed by the maximum incoming supply selected. Therefore a split metered board can be
configured to accommodate many variants.

Metering options
Metering option can incorporate kWh meters and multi-function meters, both DIN-rail and
panel mounted. Pulsed outputs, RS485 and Ethernet options are available for energy
management systems.

Features

• Split metering available in 125A

and 250A option

• Vertical or horizontal

arrangement

• Multiple CT and fuse carrier

mounting options

• DIN-rail and panel mounted

metering options

Standards

• EN61010-1 meters

• EN60439-3 distribution boards

• EN60898 MCBs

• EN61095 contactors

• EN61009 RCBOs

• EN61008 RCCBs

Benefits

• Cost effective solution

• Tailored to specification

• All designs can be fed from

one incoming option or
separate isolators

• Flexible installation options

Energy Performance Building Directive

From 1 October 2008 all buildings that are not dwellings will require an Energy
Performance Certificate (EPC) and a Display Energy Certificate (DEC). The
certificates will indicate the energy efficiency of a building expressed as an
energy rating from A-G; A being the most and G being the least efficient. Energy
performance certificates are required to be available on construction, sale or let
of a building.

Impact

Accurate measurement of energy output will be a
critical criterion as the most favourable certificates
will undoubtedly become an important factor in
facilities management.

Solutions

Tyco Electronics offers a truly flexible distribution
system which fulfils requirements of both Part L2 and
EPC and DEC Certificate in energy management.

All metering requirements can be attained using
either analogue kWh meters or multi-function meters
for convenient connection to energy management
systems. Split metering for power and lighting boards
can be achieved using standard components through
the distribution chain or fully assembled through
licensed Tyco Electronics partners.

The range of Dorman Smith distribution boards
ensures that users can meet all current industry
demands and regulations with ease.

*DEC is required for public buildings over 1000m

2

and must

displayed at all times.

EPC is required for building other than dwelling on
construction, sale or let.
