Subject: Horn Button Replacement
The horn spring may dig into the horn button, causing it to bind and/or malfunction. The horn button
may work intermittently or not at all
On early units, the horn button was softening in hot environments due to improper material temperature
curing. Vendor improvements have been made.
Following the procedure below, replace the old horn button with the new horn button.
Disconnect the battery and discharge the capacitor bank.
Note: Discharge the capacitor bank by turning the key on after disconnecting the battery. The
display will come on and then go out, indicating the capacitor bank is discharged.
Remove the two screws (Item 1,P/N 2032190), two lock washers (Item 2, P/N 2031282) and the
bezel (Item 3, P/N 2032185). See Figure l.
Being careful not to disturb the keypad switch, remove the horn button spring (Item 4, P/N
2032189) and the horn button (Item 5, P/N 2032188).

While engaging the horn switch, carefully install the new horn button. Ensure it is installed as
shown in Figure 3.
Install the horn button spring as shown in Figure 3.
Install the bezel with the two screws and lock washers. See Figure l.
Test the operation of the control handle, paying particular attention to the horn button and the tilt
and sideshift switches.
