WINPHOENIX 1.05
---------------

Winphoenix is a windows95/98/nt program which allows the programming of
the 24c16 on Multimac 2.14, MM3.xx and COP cards.
It will also read the contents of the 24c16 from COP cards and some
versions of Multimac.
A future version will support Nordic4.

You can load and save various file formats : hex8, hex16, binary and
COP .dat files.

I hope the program is simple to use and self-explanatory, mainly because
I haven't written a manual!.

The program has been tested on a range of cards, both PIC and COP.
It has been tested on a various PCs without problems.
That doesn't mean there aren't any bugs though.

If you have any problems then please email the author, Paul Arnold, at
winp@arnold1.demon.co.uk

Many thanks to those who tested the beta releases of this program.

The artwork and details on how to build your own Phoenix interface can
be downloaded from either of my sites :

ZIP FILES
---------
When a ZIP file is loaded its contents are checked against a list
of valid data filenames. The required file is then extracted.
A list of filenames to check for is specified in the
File->Preferences->ZipFiles menu.
The extracted file can either be deleted after loading or left in
the specified extraction directory.

INTERNET ZIP/DATA FILES
-----------------------
Data or ZIP files can be loaded directly from the internet.
The URL for the required file, and the directory to save it to
can be specified in the menu File->Preferences->Internet.

LIVE UPDATES
------------
Winphoenix can also extract keys from some of the live update pages.
The URL for the live update page is specified in the menu
File->Preferences->Internet.
As this only downloads a few keys and not an entire eeprom you
also have to specify an eeprom hex file on your hard drive which
you require updating. Keys downloaded from the live keys page will
be compared against those already in the eeprom file. The file will
be updated if the keys are different.
When performing live updates Winphoenix recognises eeprom files for
the following software : MM2AUTO [1], MM3.XX.
Do not perform a live update on any other eeprom files as the file
will almost certainly be corrupted.
If you are not connected to the internet when selecting the live update
option then on some systems the dial-up connection box will appear so
that you can connect. This depends on system configuration and will
not happen on all systems.

[1] When updating MM2AUTO cards the special ident used to carry the
SAs and management keys will remain intact. However, because the
card is completely reprogrammed using the file on the disk any newly
downloaded keys not yet used will be lost. This should not cause any
problems because they will be downloaded again before they are used.
Also, if a new key is downloaded and then used but does not appear
on the live update site it too will be overwritten.

IMPORTANT
---------
It is important that the eeprom file specified for live updates
*is not* deleted. Therefore, if this file is the same as that extract
from ZIP files you *must* ensure that the option to 'delete file after
extraction' is not enabled.

The default sites for ZIP file and Live Updates are provided by
Geronimo. The URLs have been included with his full permission.
