Explain the difference between IFOV and FOV.

IFOV
— (Instantaneous Field Of View) is the cone angle within which the
incident energy is focused on the detector (the angle through which the
detector ‘sees’).

FOV
— (Field Of View) expresses the total angle that is scanned. In air-
borne scanners it is usually expressed as an angle. For space-borne scan-
ners it expresses the effective image width (in metres).
