Tape Specification KT Method Confirmation Testing
Patient position:
Sidelying, with the side to be tested on the
bottom in neutral lumbar spine, pelvis and hip
positions. The patient should hold the table
for stability. The examiner should hold the
upper leg in abduction. Adduct the
underneath lower extremity upward from the
table without rotation, flexion, or extension of
the hip, or tilting of the pelvis.
Examiner pressure:
Against the medial aspect of the distal end of
the thigh in the direction of abduction
downward toward the table. Apply pressure
above the knee to avoid strain of the tibial
(medial) collateral ligament.
