Confirmation Testing

Patient position:
Sitting or supine, with the wrist stabilized in
neutral (avoid full extension). Extend the
index finger.

Examiner pressure:
Against the dorsal surfaces of the proximal
phalange of the 2nd finger in the direction of
flexion.

Note: Applying pressure to the
interphalangeal joints will also initiate action
of the lumbricales and interossei to complete
the motion.
