List the seven interpretation elements.
Answer
The following are interpretation elements: Tone/Hue, Texture, Shape, Size, Pat-
tern, Site and Association.
Although ’site’ and ’association’ are close in a way, site refers to the physi-
cal location of a feature, compared to others, while association is mainly about
function of a feature, when compared to other features. Stereoscopic vision is
considered by some as an element, but is somewhat embedded in the size ele-
ment (only in 3D instead of 2D). We do not consider it as a separate element.
Shadow is also referred to by some as an element, we consider it as partially
related to shape.
