Origin  

Posterior surface of body of radius distal 
to the origin of the abductor pollicis 
longus, interosseous membrane 

Insertion  

Dorsal surface of the base of poximal 
phalanx of thumb 

Actions  

Extends the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) 
joint of the thumb, abducts the 
carpometacarpal joint, assists in abduction 
(radial deviation) of the wrist 

Nerve  

Radial nerve
