Flowers In A Basket

This project took some time to make ~ but oh, the results! Play around with different types
of flowers and colors ~ roses would be beautiful. I’ve made the basket in different colors
too. A friend gave the basic directions of this project to me ~ the author of the original
directions is unknown.

Materials Needed
Š

Quilling Paper ~ 1/8”

·

White Parchment

·

Bright White

·

Moss

Š

Green covered wire (floral)

Basket

Š

2 ~ 24” strips of white parchment paper. Glue ends together and roll into a tight circle.
This is the bottom of the basket.

Š

56 ~ 2” c-scrolls make up the sides of the basket. Each layer has 8 c-scrolls. When
gluing these in place, make sure to stagger the c-scrolls to give the basket a “woven”
effect. See photo for effect. Each layer should be a little wider than the layer below it.
See photo insert for detail.

Š

16 ~ 3” loose circles for the rim of basket. Glue to the outside of top layer.

Š

Make a long spiral out of the same color for the handle. Cut to desired length and glue
to top of basket.

White Flowers (Make 3)
Š

5 ~ 2 1/2” white marquises. Glue points together to make flower.

Š

1 ~ 1” yellow tight circle. Glue to center of flower.

Yellow Flowers (Make 3)

Š

5 ~ 2 1/2” yellow teardrops.

Š

1 ~ 4” yellow “stubby” grape roll.

Glue rounded sides of teardrops to grape roll. See photo for detail.

Wire attachment for flowers.
Š

Place a dot of glue at the end of a length of 1/8” green paper. Begin rolling the paper
into a tight circle using the wire as your quilling tool.

Š

When you have reached the desired width of the tight circle, cut the paper and glue
end.

Š

Glue the tight circle (still attached to the wire) to the backside of the flower.

Š

Bend the wire to give the flowers a natural look.

Leaves
Š

Several ~ different lengths of green paper. Cut one end to make a point and curve
gently with fingers. Glue to stems and arrange in basket to suit taste.

Butterfly
Š

4 ~ 3” blue marquises. Glue points together to make an “X”

Š

1 ~ 2” open-heart scroll. Fold length in half and bring each end to the middle. Roll each
end toward the center ~ notice the inside “bulging” a little. Place a dot of glue on the
inside of the open heart down at the fold and pinch until dry. Glue end to body of
butterfly. See photo.

Š

Attach to wire and place in basket.

Glue inside of basket and fill with moss. Allow to dry. Arrange flowers, leaves and dried
flowers to suit your taste.
