Origin  

Flexor retinaculum and hook of hamate 

Insertion  

Ulnar border of the 5th metacarpal bone 

Actions  

Opposes (i.e. flexes with slight rotation) 
the carpometacarpal joint of the little 
finger, lifting the ulnar border of the hand 
into a position so the 
metacarpophalangeal flexors can oppose 
the little finger to the thumb; helps to "cup" 
the palm of the hand 

Nerve
