Significant enhancements will be made to Avaya Aura® in subsequent releases planned for
late 2009 and early 2010. Features that will not be available in the initial release are flagged
with a † in the text below.
Avaya Aura
®
Communication Manager
Communication Manager 5.2 is the latest release of Avaya’s flagship IP telephony software,
which supports different feature sets as appropriate for each edition of Avaya Aura®:
Branch Edition, Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition. The biggest story in the release is
the reduction in the total cost of ownership, realized in several areas of the network
architecture, designed particularly for customers considering a Flatten/Consolidate/Extend
project to reduce cost and simplify management. Improvements were also made to the SIP-
based solution by increasing trunk and endpoint capacities and adding support for Session
Manager. As with every release, serviceability, reliability, and robustness enhancements
were made to ensure Avaya’s solutions are as adaptable as possible to changing network
conditions, and to hold service disruptions to an absolute minimum.
Avaya Aura
®
Session Manager
Session Manager 1.1 is an important new component of Avaya Aura® and a key enabler of
Avaya’s next generation architecture. This revolutionary new SIP-based routing element
provides more centralized control capabilities and significant improvements in scale enabling
more cost effective and larger distributed deployments for enterprises. Session Manager
overlays your existing PBX infrastructure ensuring an evolutionary path forward that
protects investment in today’s Avaya systems and software while extending the solution to
bring:
•
Lower total cost of ownership
•
Much faster time-to-market for new applications†
•
Centralized infrastructure for communications
•
Inherent mobility across the enterprise
•
A Services-Oriented Architecture approach enabling next generation application
deployments and services
This new infrastructure will provide for a substantially increased number of locations and
users as well as end-to-end security. Lower total cost of ownership comes from enterprise-
wide dial-plans, flexible rules-based routing between applications, toll avoidance, and best-
cost routing across all existing PBXs (both Avaya and third party, including Cisco and Nortel
models) as well as new SIP access elements.

Session Manager sits at the core of your enterprise communications infrastructure and
provides enterprise-wide access to analog, DCP, and H.323 endpoints, as well as analog and
digital trunks to rich SIP-based applications such as Meeting Exchange, Modular Messaging,
Voice Portal and many others. A new management solution, System Manager, will be
offered in conjunction with Session Manager that brings together the capabilities of existing
Avaya management systems, to provide a seamless, single point of control for the entire
enterprise.
Avaya Aura® System Manager
With the introduction of Session Manager and the new Avaya Aura® architecture, System
Manager is being added to provide a solution level approach to network administration that
enables the incorporation of new components and applications under a common
management umbrella over time. System Manager provides a new common management
framework that optimizes centralized management functions for provisioning, operations
and fault/performance monitoring to simplify and reduce management complexity and
solution servicing.
The initial release of System Manager provides for central administration of dial plans and
network routing policy. In future, System Manager will be enhanced to allow for common
user provisioning across the Communication Manager, Session Manager and Presence
Services components†. Over time System Manager will adopt most Avaya Integrated
Management features and be extended to provide one place for managing users across all
Avaya applications as well as third party applications that opt to leverage System Manager’s
pluggable Service Oriented Architecture framework†. Benefits include better data
consistency, faster deployment, lower total-cost-of-ownership and less training.
Avaya Aura® Communication Manager Branch
Communication Manager Branch 2.0 is a SIP-based solution that provides a set of
Communication Manager features optimized for enterprises with customer-facing distributed
branch offices or retail locations. New in Release 2.0 are capacity enhancements that
increase scalability up to 2,000 centrally managed branches and 360 users per branch. Also
new in Communication Manager Branch 2.0 are additional key features, support for 24xx
digital phones, more robust interaction with the Contact Center and features for EMEA,
APAC and CALA regions.
Avaya Aura® Editions
Avaya Aura® is easy to purchase and deploy through Avaya Aura® Editions: Branch
Edition, Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition. These software Editions bring together all
the functionality needed for common customer situations with a simple per user licensing
fee. Hardware (servers, gateways, and phones) are flexibly purchased in addition to
software licenses and the hardware topology depends on the redundancy, scalability and
geographic distribution needs for each customer. Different elements of the software may
run on separate hardware servers, or some elements may be combined on the same
hardware server. Gateway distribution and configuration will depend on availability and
capacity needs. Avaya and BusinessPartner sales engineers assist customers in designing
the right hardware configurations to meet their business needs. The software Editions and
their functionality remain the same regardless of hardware choices.
Avaya Aura® Branch Edition meets the needs of customer-facing branches, retail stores,
financial and insurance offices, and government offices requiring local customer service

oriented functionality combined with low-cost deployment, easy migration from existing key
systems, centralized management of thousands of locations, and enterprise-wide SIP
networking.
Avaya Aura® Standard Edition meets the needs of single-site deployments and mid-to-
large distributed enterprises requiring comprehensive voice, video, messaging, SIP and
Presence communications capabilities with standard survivability at remote locations.
Standard Edition has the option to easily add licensing for enterprise-wide SIP session
management and Unified Communications applications for targeted users, including
Microsoft and IBM UC integration, and mobile worker and teleworker support.
Avaya Aura® Enterprise Edition includes everything in Standard Edition and meets the
needs of highly distributed, and potentially multinational, mid-to-very-large enterprises
requiring the same comprehensive communications capabilities with increased high
availability options including 100% feature survivability at remote locations. Enterprise
Edition includes, with no additional licensing, enterprise-wide SIP session management and
Unified Communications applications for all users, including Microsoft and IBM UC
integration, and mobile worker and teleworker support.
All Avaya Aura® Editions include appropriate management and administration tools.
Additional Avaya unified communications and contact center solutions, including rich unified
messaging, conferencing and web collaboration, video endpoints and bridges, speech and
video self service, and market-leading inbound and outbound multimedia contact center
applications, can all be incrementally added to Avaya Aura® Editions. An extensive array of
certified third-party products is also available through the Avaya DevConnect ecosystem.

Offer Changes in Communication Manager 5.2
Except as explicitly noted, the offer description for Communication Manager 5.0 and 5.1 also
applies equally to release 5.2.
Avaya one-X® - UC All Inclusive
Unified Communication Editions are powerful set of solutions created to meet the varying
communication needs of users within the enterprise. Unified Communication (UC) Editions
are simple logical bundles of software and licenses. The Editions will reduce purchasing
complexity and risk from a customer perspective and reduce sales complexity for Avaya
channels.
The pricing for the Editions will create a more competitive value for the Avaya solutions in
the marketplace. The Editions will offer a significant savings over buying the products in
the solution individually. The discounts vary by Edition. Customers buy solutions. It is
important the complete Edition capabilities and benefits be proposed to customers. More
details including requirements, material codes, and pricing can be found below in the UC
Editions Offer section.
ESS or LSP Inclusion
For customers owning Communication Manager Standard 5.0, 5.1, or 5.2, one free ESS or
one free LSP will be part of the ownership entitlement. Communication Manager Enterprise
continues to provide up to 63 ESS and 250 LSP at no extra charge.

2.5.
Definitions of User License
Starting with Communication Manager 2.0, software was charged on a Per User basis, not
on a per port basis. A User is defined as an administered or available extension for
stations. Within the Communication Manager software, a user is anything that is
administered through the Station form:
•
Analog, digital or IP station extensions, includes extensions administered without
hardware (AWOH)
•
Spare licenses for future growth of station extensions.
•
Adjunct devices connected and translated as station extensions. Examples include
Voice Mail, IVR, T1s translated for line side connectivity to Turrets, etc.
User licenses are sold as ‘Universal Licenses’. This means that when a customer purchases a
new license of Communication Manager or Communication Manager Enterprise, it can be
used for any type of endpoint, whether it is an Analog, Digital or IP. Note that starting with
Communication Manager 3.1, SIP license has become an integral part of the CM Universal
license. This means that for every CM Universal License that was purchased, the customer
is entitled to the same quantity of SIP licenses at no additional cost.
Benefits of the CM Universal License:
•
Built-in investment protection: With a Universal license, a customer can initially
deploy a digital or analog endpoint and convert it to an IP endpoint for the same user
extension without repurchasing licenses from Avaya.
•
More Cost-effective deployment of IP Softphone and IP Agent applications:
One CM Universal user license will serve as the port license for both a digital desk
phone and an IP software endpoint (such as an IP Softphone or IP Agent) used for
the same extension. This will decrease the price of these deployments. IP
Softphone and IP Agent client licenses will still need to be purchased.
•
Since SIP license is now a component of the CM Universal license, customers can
deploy Avaya SIP solution without having to pay separately for the SIP license.
Other changes in Trunk license include:
•
TDM trunk port licenses are not chargeable starting with Communication Manager
2.0. Maximum TDM trunk port is activated on all Communication Manager 3.x and
later servers.
•
IP trunk ports are not charged separately either - 10 IP trunk ports are included in
Communication Manager and maximum IP trunks included with Communication
Manager Enterprise.
Licenses are not charged on hardware endpoints. For example, a customer may have 1000
wired DCP ports with 1000 Digital stations connected to them on a single switch. 500 are
being used in the production site, and the other 500 digital stations are used in a disaster
recovery site. The customer only needs 500 stations at any given time. Avaya would only
charge user licenses for 500 extensions. The same principal also applies for IP telephone
examples.
Licenses for internal switch “soft” extensions such as announcements and VDNs are not
chargeable. These items are not administered from the Station form.

,
including a mixture of directly-connected and IP-connected port networks.
•

connected port network environment with G150, G250, G350, G430, G450 and G700
Media Gateways.
•
Note that Communication Manager 3.x was the last supported release for the
DEFINITY Server CSI. This platform does not work with Communication
Manager Release 4.0 or later.

Analog License Offer
Avaya launched a new licensing offer targeting specific verticals that often have a high
percentage of analog ports. These verticals include hospitality, healthcare, state and local
government, education, and manufacturing. With this offer, customers will receive a lower
price for the analog station licenses. This offer was made available August 4, 2008.
Requirements
•
This is a Communication Manager 5.0 and later offer
•
Analog station licenses are to be used for analog stations only (analog desksets, fax
machines, etc).
•
If at a later date, the station is to be used as a digital or IP station, the Analog
station license must be uplifted to either a CM standard or CM enterprise license.
•
A minimum of one (1) CM R5 Universal license must be purchased for each system
•
It is not recommended that customers upgrade their current pre-CM R5 Universal
licenses via the CM R5 analog upgrade codes. However, if necessary, upgrades to
CM R5 may use the CM R5 analog upgrade codes with product management
approval. If at a later date, the customer wants to install an IP or Digital endpoint,
the customer will be required to pay to uplift the licenses to a universal license. If
the customer plans to move to an IP or Digital station at a future date, it is not
recommended that they upgrade to the analog offer.
•
In EMEA, please contact the regional product manager for additional details.

Software Support Material Codes for UC Standard Edition
New Software Support material codes for the UC Standard Edition have been created.
Below are the codes when adding the UC Standard Edition to a new Communication
Manager Standard 5.x system or adding to an existing system.
Note that there are no Software Support-only codes: Upgrade coverage is included for these
UC bundles even if the customer does not have upgrade coverage on CM. This can be
positioned as an added benefit to the customer.
Also note that for CM Enterprise Release 5, there are no extra Software maintenance codes
since this coverage is included in the existing CM Enterprise pricing.

Upgrades & Migrations to Communication Manager 5.2
Avaya shifted to the Per User Model with the launch of Communication Manager 3.0. The
Per User model which is based on N-1 and N-2 tier pricing is independent of the server
platform. There are no separate codes for migration; the Per User upgrade material codes
are used for both upgrade and migration.
Upgrade is calculated as a percentage of new. The percentage is determined from the
existing release of the system being upgraded to Communication Manager 5.2.
•
For a single release upgrade, it is 15% of new.
•
For a multi-releases upgrade, it is 20% of new.
For a limited time through November 2, 2009, a Special Introductory upgrade rate is
available to the Communication Manager customers who upgrade to Release 5.2 and
also purchase Software Support plus Upgrades. This special upgrade rate is calculated
as follows:
•
For a single release upgrade (from CM 4.0 to CM 5.2 only), it is 7% of new.
•
For a multi release upgrade (from CM 3.0 and prior to CM 5.2 only), it is 15% of
new.
NOTE:
•
When upgrading from Communication Manager 1.x (R11) and prior to
Communication Manager 5.2, before the introduction of Enterprise and Standard
license, customers have a choice to upgrade to either Standard or Enterprise
licenses.
•
With Communication Manager 2.x and later, if the licenses prior to upgrade are
Standard, then after upgrade, they will remain Standard unless those licenses were

uplifted to Enterprise during upgrade. On the other hand, if the licenses prior to
upgrade are Enterprise then they will remain Enterprise after upgrade.
•
Note that downgrading from Communication Manager Enterprise to Communication
Manager Standard is not allowed. For example, a customer with Communication
Manager Enterprise licenses is not allowed to change to Communication Manager
Standard when they upgrade to Communication Manager 5.0.
NOTE: If customers have Standard prior to upgrade and wish to uplift their Standard
licenses to Enterprise, then they can order one of the codes below to uplift the Standard
licenses to Enterprise. The quantity on the order must match the number of Standard
licenses being upgraded. The code to be ordered depends on the release of Communication
Manager on the target system.

Upgrade & Migration Guidelines
When customers wish to upgrade or migrate to Communication Manager 5.2, the following
guidelines apply:
•
All existing functionality will be carried forward and certain features will be added
according to the Communication Manager software edition when upgrading a system
to Communication Manager 5.2. When customers upgrade from pre R10 switches,
all features and port capacities will be brought forward using the Feature Extraction
Tool (FET) used in the RFA licensing process, or within the RFA records for R10 and
later releases.
•
Offer B (BCS) systems should be upgraded to the Standard Communication Manager
software edition. Customers can retain many of Offer B circuit packs, as most will
work with Communication Manager 5.2 software. Make sure that the Location field
in the RFA license is set to a value of “2” when provisioning the upgrade to ensure
that this works. NOTE: The FET Tool can be used on Offer B systems to capture the
existing features for creating a new RFA license.
Determine CM Software Licenses on the Server
The following guidelines are used to identify the Software Licenses (Standard or Enterprise)
on a Communication Manager based system.
•
If the current release is CM 2.x, CM3.x and CM 4.x then use the table that follows to
determine if the server has Enterprise licenses. If none of the features below exists
and is enabled on the server then it has Standard Licenses.

Determine Station Licenses Eligibility for Upgrade & Migration
Beginning with Communication Manager 2.0 Avaya sold licenses for stations, but not trunks.
Currently, the “Maximum Ports:” field on the Communication Manager customer-options
form is used for licensing “Ports”, which include both trunks and stations.

Starting with Communication Manager Release 3.0, Avaya implements a new licensing
schema, known as station licensing. A new capacity feature on the customer-options form
(“Maximum Stations”) controls the total number of station licenses. The following new Type
2 feature in the Communication Manager RFA license file sets this new customer options
feature: VALUE_STA. It controls the total number of administered stations on the system.
With the introduction of the station licensing feature and the fact that trunks are no longer a
chargeable item, the existing Communication Manager feature for Maximum Ports
(VALUE_PORT) in the RFA license is no longer needed. However, customers have grown
accustomed to seeing Maximum Ports on the Communication Manager customer-options
form. Because of customer expectations, removing the Maximum Ports feature from
Communication Manager Administration screens would likely cause significant issues in the
field. As a result of this concern, the Maximum Ports feature will continue to be shown on
the customer-options form, even though its meaning has changed.
When the license is installed in the server, Communication Manager truncates the
VALUE_PORT setting to the maximum allowed for the given platform type. To help
customers understand the changed meaning of this feature, the feature has been re-titled
on the customer-options form to reflect the new meaning. To summarize the changes in
Communication Manager 3.0, the entries that control the total number of administrable
stations are as follows:
Release
Customer-options Form
RFA License
CM2.x and prior
Maximum Ports
VALUE_PORT
CM3.0 and later

To assist design and ordering teams, a Job Aid has been created to provide easy directions
on how to determine station and trunk count information when planning upgrades or
migrations to Communication
Manager 5.2. It is embedded here:

Moving, Merging and Converting Software Licenses
Merges are the consolidation of either software licenses and/or port hardware from one or
more main servers (the “Existing” servers) to another existing main server (the “Merging”
server). In this sense it is a many to one relationship. The customer value proposition is
cost savings through network consolidation – moving from multiple servers into one for the
purposes of centralized administration. Usually, this means that a customer is choosing to
decommission multiple PPN systems in favor of converting them into Port Networks off an
already existing server.
License moves occur when a customer needs to move end-users and agents licenses from
one main server to another but both servers will continue to be in-service. Moves help

customers moving end-users between various sites as corporate expansions and
contractions take place.
Here is a summary of the license move & merge in Communication Manager 5.2:
1.
Customers will be charged with the Per User upgrade+move fee if they are moving
licenses from an older release to a current release.
2.
If they are moving licenses between two systems running on the latest release of
CM, there will not be a license move fee;
however other Avaya Services fees for
license activation and deactivation will still apply.
3.
If they are moving licenses between two systems with the same release but
noncurrent (e.g. moving licenses between two CM4.x systems or between two
between two R10 systems, etc.), there will be a license move fee of $50 per license.
4.
When moving licenses from multiple servers to a single server, the applicable License
Move codes (see
Appendix H
) must be applied to the individual “From” site.
Additional CM Enterprise uplift charges are applicable if licenses are moved from a server
running CM Standard to a target system running CM Enterprise. Other Avaya Services fees
for license activation and deactivation will also apply.
The full offer description, policy and order procedures are documented in
Appendix H
for
License Move and
Appendix G
for License Merge.

Enterprise and Branch Survivability Software License
Enterprise Survivable Server (ESS)
For customers owning Communication Manager Standard 5.0, 5.1, or 5.2, one free ESS or
one free LSP will be part of the ownership entitlement. Communication Manager Enterprise
continues to provide up to 63 ESS or 250 LSP at no extra charge.
The Avaya Enterprise Survivable Server (ESS) solution allows a business that is using an
Avaya Communication Manager 3.x or later driven solution to have greater flexibility of
consolidation by providing new survivability options to the marketplace. The ESS solution
allows a customer to place ESS (backup) servers at key locations throughout their
enterprise. Beginning with Avaya Communication Manager 3.0, an ESS server is capable of
taking over for the entire enterprise or, if needed, just a portion of the enterprise in the
event that some type of outage has occurred.
An enterprise typically involves multiple locations that are equipped with Avaya port
network gateways (MCC1, SCC1, CMC, G600 and G650) and/or H.248 media gateways
(G700, G450, G350 and G250). These gateways use the Wide Area Network (WAN) in
order to communicate with the Main Communication Manager Server. A port network
gateway uses a board called the Internet Protocol Server Interface (IPSI) to establish
connectivity to the Main server. If the IPSI is unable to communicate with the Main server
due to some type of outage, such as a WAN outage, then all resources controlled by their

port network will be out of service. This includes telephones and trunks, as well as any
adjuncts associated to this port network.
This is where the ESS can be of value in support of business continuity for remote locations
that are equipped with ESS servers. The IPSI has the ability to “ask for help” if connectivity
to the mains server cannot be restored in a defined timeframe. Each IPSI keeps a list of all
the available ESS servers in the enterprise. The IPSI will reach out to the ESS server that
has the highest priority rating and request service. If that request for service fails, then the
IPSI will make a request of the next highest priority server.
There are two components to ESS, the software and the hardware. ESS software is
included in Communication Manager 5.2 Enterprise. There is also an ESS a la carte option
for those customers who don’t require the features in Enterprise, but still require ESS. ESS
a la carte software charge applies for each ESS server in the configuration.

Standard Local Survivability (SLS)
The Standard Local Survivability (SLS) functionality is available to the G250, G350 (require
hardware suffix C and above), G430, G450 Media Gateways and the new IG550 Integrated
Gateways (for Juniper J2320, J2350 J4350 and J6350 routers). Unlike the Local Survivable
Processor (LSP) solution, SLS requires no additional software license charge and can provide
basic telephony to local branch employees if the G250 / G350 / G430 / G450 connection
back to the Main or Primary Server is lost for any reason, such as a break in the WAN
service.

2.1.
What’s New with Avaya Communication Manager 5.2
Except as explicitly noted, the product description for Communication Manager 5.0 and 5.1
applies equally to release 5.2. The following is a summary of the new features and
enhancements in release 5.2. For a full, detailed list of all the new capabilities in CM 5.2,
refer to the following document: “What’s New in Avaya Aura® Communication Manager, SIP
Enablement Services, Avaya Servers and Media Gateways for Release 5.2”, document
number 03-601528.
Communication Manager 5.2 is the latest release of Avaya’s flagship telephony server. The
biggest story in the release is the reduction in the total cost of ownership, realized in
several areas of the network architecture, designed particularly for customers considering a
Flatten/Consolidate/Extend project to reduce cost and simplify management. Improvements
were also made to the SIP-based solution by increasing trunk and endpoint capacities and
introducing Session Manager. As with every release, serviceability, reliability, and
robustness enhancements were made to ensure Avaya’s solutions are as adaptable as
possible to changing network conditions, and to hold service disruptions to an absolute
minimum.
Processor Ethernet for S8720/S8730
Traditionally one of the bigger costs of building a large Communication Manager system to
support thousands of IP (H.323) endpoints was the cost of G650 gateways. These gateways
housed the many CLAN circuit packs required for IP endpoint registration and the IPSI
circuit packs required to connect the gateways to the main servers. With the S8500-series
servers, there has been a lower cost alternative for several releases. Processor Ethernet
allows the server itself to process endpoint registrations, thus avoiding provisioning G650
gateways. With Processor Ethernet a cost-effective H.248 gateway, such as the G430, can
be used for media processing and TDM support.
With Communication Manager 5.2 the Processor Ethernet capability has been extended to
the S8720 and S8730 duplicated critical reliability servers. Now for the first time, Avaya’s
best-in-class servers can realize the TCO benefits of directly connecting H.248 gateways. Up
to a 50% cost savings results from no longer needing G650 gateways, and the CLAN and
IPSI circuit packs. System capacities are the same as those achievable with the G650
gateways. Traditional port networks, and the G650, continue to be supported. However,
certain adjunct applications will still need the G650 (contact your Avaya representative for
more details) but substantial cost reductions are still possible even in these scenarios.
Avaya Aura® Communication Manager Messaging (previously IA770)
Avaya Aura® Communication Manager Messaging is IA770 rebranded. The Communication
Manager Messaging application is embedded with Communication Manager R5.2. The first
500 mailboxes are provided with each Communication Manager R5.2 system at no charge
and additional mailboxes must be purchased. This release provides significant capacity
increases by introducing support for S8500C and S8510 servers. Details regarding the
maximum capacity and material codes for seat licenses are below. Please note that
Communication Manager Messaging does not require a unique license file as the license file
generated for Communication Manager includes the license requirements for the messaging
application.

Avaya Services Offers
Avaya Services has created offers to migrate data from Intuity Audix R4.4 & R5.1 and
Intuity Audix LXR1.1 & R2.0 to Communication Manager Messaging 5.2. The migration path
is considered as a new install, hence, designing Communication Manager Messaging is
treated as a new design/install. The following type of data can be migrated: Subscribers,
Recorded names, Personal greetings, Messages, Non-ELA mailing lists, Class-of-services
records, Networked machines.
G430 Gateway
The G430 is a new H.248 media gateway intended for branches and sites with 2 to 150
users. The modular design of the G430 allows customers to add capacity – more Media
Modules or DSP channels – to match their growth. The G430 shares the same feature set
with the G250, G350 and G450 Media Gateways. Among those features is SLS (standard
local survivability) - integrated survivability in the gateway.
The G430 Media Gateway
The gateway has three slots which can be used in a variety of ways. Slot 1 can host the
S8300 server; any of the slots can host Media Modules to deliver connectivity to analog
stations and trunks, DCP stations, T1/E1 ports or BRI station and trunks. The G430 is
equipped with 20 DSP channels and an internal slot for a DSP daughterboard that can host
10, 20 or 80 channels, giving a maximum DSP capacity of 100 DSP channels. The DSP
technology is similar to the technology used in the G450 so there is no performance hit due
to the codec or encryption.
You can connect two EM200 (Expansion Modules) to the G430. Each EM200 can host two
Media Modules. The maximum slot capacity of G430 and two EM200s is seven slots.

Increase storage for announcements
The G430 and G450 Branch Gateways 5.2 can provide increased storage for
announcements. A memory kit that adds RAM and compact flash to the gateway increases
storage grows to four hours and 1,024 total announcements, compared to the standard
storage of 45 minutes and 256 total announcements.
S8400 ESS
Customers have requested the S8400 server operate as an Enterprise Survivable Server
(ESS) to provide enterprise-wide disaster recovery. Communication Manager 5.2 will
support this. For customers with ProLogix standalone systems who need to implement a
Flatten/Consolidate/Extend project, they can now convert the ProLogix into an S8400 ESS
which can takeover for that main server in case of network outages or other disruptive
situations.
Increased IP Endpoint Capacity
On the S8700-series servers in XL mode, total IP (H.323) station + trunk capacity is
increased to 18,000. This additional scale can help TCO in Flatten/Consolidate/Extend
projects and also may allow customers to delay purchasing another server as the number of
enterprise users increases beyond the previous capacity of 12,000.
Increased SIP Trunk and Endpoint Capacity
SIP capacities are increased from 15,000 to 18,000 endpoints and from 5,000 to 7,000
trunks. This provides better support for large, robust configurations.
Avaya Aura® Session Manager
Avaya is proud of our commitment to providing investment protection to our customers over
many decades of technology change. Our next generation architecture now adds additional
scale and control capabilities to SIP deployments enabling more cost effective and larger
distributed deployments for enterprises. This evolution will protect investments in today’s
Avaya systems and software while extending the solution to help enable:

The Avaya Session Manager at the core of the enterprise provides enterprise-wide access to
Analog, DCP, and H.323 endpoints, and also analog and digital trunks to these same rich
SIP-based applications, including Avaya Communication Manager, Meeting Exchange,
Modular Messaging Voice Portal and many others. A new management solution will be
offered which brings together the capabilities of existing Avaya management systems, to
provide a seamless, single point of control for the entire enterprise.

New Command to Handle Main Server and LSP Server Split
Registrations
A frequently requested product enhancement Avaya has received from our customers is to
resolve “Split Registrations”. Due to network outages or main server restarts, and with
some network architectures, some endpoints can register with the main server and some
with an LSP (Local Survivable Processor.) This is more likely to happen with large systems
that have adopted Flatten/Consolidate/Extend configurations with many branch offices.
Communication Manager 5.2 introduces a method to eliminate main server/LSP split
registrations which reduces the chance that certain endpoints will experience service
disruptions.
Use of this feature requires special access. Account teams needing to use this feature
should contact Product Management (listed at the end of this document) for further
instructions.
Telephony User Features for EMEA
Customers in the EMEA region often use certain telephony features not previously available
in Communication Manager. Fourteen of these features are added to Communication
Manager 5.2. Full details are provided in the document “What’s New in Avaya Aura®
Communication Manager, SIP Enablement Services, Avaya Servers and Media Gateways for
Release 5.2”, document number 03-601528.
Pairing of ESS and LSP servers in Communication Manager 5.2
The table below describes what type of survivable server (LSP or ESS) is supported by
which Main running Communication Manager 5.2. Note that both an LSP and an ESS server
must be the same release or later than the main server.

ESS or LSP Survivable Servers
Read the table from left to right. The 1st column identifies the main server and columns 2-10 indicate which server can be used as an LSP or ESS for that type of
main server.
Note:
•
The S8730 is offered with the maximum capacities. There is no distinction between
XL and standard configuration like with the S8720.
•
LSP or ESS servers must be the same release or greater than the main server.
•
The S8700 and S8500A are not upgradeable to CM 5.0 or greater.
An S8400A operating as an ESS needs to have an additional 1GB of RAM installed.
Acme Packet® Session Border Controller
Avaya and Acme Packet enable large enterprises, contact centers and service providers to
satisfy security, service reach, and other crucial requirements for their interactive IP
communications.
This is an evolutionary product providing secure borders for end-to-end SIP which will
integrate with an Avaya Session Manager multi-vendor solution. It is also revolutionary in
that it will:
•
Fix interworking issues at network border points
•
Connect remote users easily and securely
•
Assure and measure session quality
•
Support regulatory compliance
Acme Packet, a Platinum-level member in the Avaya DevConnect Program, addresses these
needs with its Net-Net Session Border Controllers (SBCs). Acme Packet Net-Net SBCs help
secure both the access and interconnect edge of Avaya IP telephony and contact centers. As
enterprises and contact centers connect their "VoIP islands" via Session Initiation Protocol
(SIP) to service provider IP networks and intra- and inter-enterprise locations and users,

Serviceability and Reliability Enhancements
Avaya is always looking to improve serviceability and reliability of its solutions to reduce
customer costs and improve satisfaction. This release of Communication Manager introduces
improved tools used by our Services business designed to improve installation,
management, and troubleshooting. Also, improvements were made to further reduce IP
endpoint downtime caused by network outages and disruptions.
Improve DSP resource
monitoring via added
reporting
Improve customer service through improved tools
used by Services.
IPSI Admin Enhancements
Add an administrative interface to administer and
manage IP parameters. This will improve
installation, management and troubleshooting as
the services personnel will not need to log into
each board individually.
Maintain CLAN TCP Sockets
during Port Network
restarts
This enhancement will minimize global resets of C-
LAN sockets and enable IP phone clients to have
minimal outages.
2.2.
What’s New with Avaya Communication Manager 5.1
Except as explicitly noted, the product description for Communication Manager 5.0 also
applies equally to release 5.1. The following is a partial list of new features and
enhancements in release 5.1.
IP Endpoint Survivability
Some Avaya H.323 endpoints already have the ability to maintain more than one gateway
IP address. This improves the survivability of these endpoints when the registered gateway
fails; in this case the phone will try to re-register at an alternate gateway whose IP address

is stored in the phone. Communication Manager 5.1 allows user administration of the
default alternate gatekeeper lists which specify potential back-up gatekeepers for H.323
entities.
Serviceability
To assist with troubleshooting, by the customer, BusinessPartners, and Avaya Services, the
following TN circuit packs now generate error logs which are stored centrally on
Communication Manager:
•
TN799DP (CLAN)
•
TN2312AP/BP (IPSI)
•
TN2602AP Media Processor (Crossfire)
Also, a ‘List Measurements’ command is added to the SAT management interface to report
on IPSI measurement data.
Telephony Features Requested by EMEA Region
Customers in the EMEA region often use certain telephony features not available in
Communication Manager. Two of these features are added to Communication Manager 5.1:
•
Enhance the Team Button enhancements by allowing override for send all calls / call
forward
•
Call Completion to Busy Subscriber (CCBS) for incoming calls; basically ISDN Public

Avaya S8510 Server
With Communication Manager 5.1, Avaya introduced the next generation of the S8500
Series Server. The new S8510 Server is the follow-on server for the S8500C Server. The
S8510 Server has the same capacities as the S8500C.
The previous versions of the S8500 series server (A, B, & C) supported RAM Disk as a
means to provide additional availability to the simplex server. The S8510 does not support
RAM Disk but comes equipped with RAID level 1 disk mirroring feature that is hot
swappable.
RAID 1 utilizes a disk mirroring method which creates an identical set of data on two disks.
RAID 1 contains two identical disks with the same information on each, increasing the
availability of the system significantly over a single disk in a simplex system. Each of these
disks is independent of each other and contains a complete copy of the data. If either disk
fails, the other disk continues to function on its own until the failed disk is replaced. RAID 1
reduces the time needed to service a system. With RAID 1, when a disk fails, services can
easily replace the disk without powering down the system.

New Avaya S8400B
The S8400B server is expected to launch at the end of June 2008. When released, the
S8400B is supported on CM 4.0.3, CM 5.x, and later releases. The S8400B server is very
similar to the existing S8400 (A) with the following exceptions:
•
The S8400B comes from the factory with 1 GB of DRAM and a 4 GB SSD installed.
The S8400 (A) server comes from the factory with 512 MB of DRAM and a 2 GB SSD
installed.
•
The S8400B has a SATA (Serial ATA) hard drive and associated SATA interface
hardware onboard. The S8400 (A) has the older style ATA hard drive and interface
hardware. From an end user’s prospective, both drives are functionally equivalent
but each type requires its own special software driver.
•
There is no additional capacity or functionality in CM 5.1
Migrations/Upgrades from S8400 to S8400B are not necessary at this time.

What’s New with Avaya Communication Manager 5.0
The following highlights the key features and enhancements in Communication Manager
Release 5.0.
SIP Contact Center Features - Network Call Redirection (NCR), User to User
Information (UUI), and Avaya Agent Deskphone 16CC
Communication Manager 5.0 and SIP Enablement Services 5.0 deliver a number of key SIP
enhancements for the SIP based contact center such as the support of Network Call
Redirection (NCR), User to User Information (UUI) on SIP trunks and the new and low cost
SIP based contact center agent desk phone. The combination of these new capabilities
along with the Avaya Voice Portal and enhanced Communication Manager SIP Trunking
provide customers with the first complete end-to-end SIP contact center solution from any
major vendor.
In today’s contact centers, customers use ISDN trunks on Communication Manager with
Network Call Redirection (NCR) to reduce costs in a multi-site call center. NCR is a Service

Provider feature that Communication Manager supports whereby the network (PSTN)
manages the call redirection to reduce the need for overflow ISDN trunks. Network Call
Redirection is also referred to as Take Back and Transfer and allows incoming contact center
calls to be redirected by Communication Manager to a different IVR or agent queue on a
different switch.
User to User Information (UUI) is a field that is used to encode customer identifier
information and is often used by Contact Center applications to route incoming calls or
trigger screen pops. UUI has been supported in traditional ISDN trunks, but no equivalent
encoding was defined in the original SIP standards. Avaya recognized this outage and
authored an IETF Internet Draft (
http://tools.ietf.org/id/draft-johnston-sipping-cc-uui-
02.txt
) that defines how UUI could be transmitted in SIP signaling. This capability is
implemented in Communication Manager 5.0, as well as the Avaya Voice Portal. UUI can be
provided for outgoing as well as incoming calls that have UUI and CTI routed calls based on
adjunct route with UUI.
For a complete list of the supported Contact Center features on the Avaya 16CC Agent desk
phone, please consult the Call Center 5.0 Product Definition at the Avaya Enterprise Portal-
> Products -> Products By Groups-> Call Center-> Sales Collaterals and Tools-> Job Aids
and Tools.
SIP Trunk Alternate Routing
This enhancement to SIP trunking enables Communication Manager to detect and route the
call around network failure resulting in higher resiliency and availability with SIP trunks.
With SIP Trunk Alternate Routing, Communication Manager will route the outgoing call over
alternate trunks at the same time it initiates the OPTIONS test to the destination SIP device
when it does not receive a response to its SIP INVITE message within 4 seconds.
Co resident CM 5.0 and SES 5.0 on the S8300C
Avaya Communication Manager 5.0 on the S8300C now includes an embedded Avaya SIP
Enablement Services component. The embedded Avaya SIP Enablement Services supports
the same functionality as an S8500-based server and can be configured as a Combo for use
in standalone deployments or as a Home, which allows the S8300 to be connected to a
larger SIP network through an S8500-based Edge server.
Avaya Communication Manager 5.0 on the S8300C with the embedded Avaya SIP
Enablement Services server can support up to 100 SIP stations.
Note that in Communication Manager 5.0, the co resident CM 5.0 and SES 5.0 support is
only available to a standalone S8300C configuration. Local Survivable Processor (LSP)
support of SIP stations is not available in this release.
This new configuration makes SIP Telephony more cost-effective for small-to-mid-sized
enterprises and standalone small-of-large branch offices by eliminating the need to
purchase an external S8500-based Avaya SIP Enablement Services server.
SIP Visiting User

SIP Visiting User allows users to receive the exact same telephony user experience as they
have at their desk regardless of where they happen to sit down within the Enterprise. When
visiting a "hotel" desk, regardless of whether it is down the hall or halfway around the
world, users simply log in to the one-X® Deskphone SIP R2.0 station using their normal
station id and PIN, and the desk phone transforms itself into the same configuration as their
normal phone, including line appearances, feature buttons, dial plan, etc. When they're
finished, users can simply log out. Users will also be automatically logged out after an
administrable period inactivity if they forget to manually log out.
SIP Visiting User also ensures that emergency calls are handled correctly by intercepting
them and routing them out a local trunk.
SIP Visiting User provides improved productivity for nomadic workers such as IT personnel,
sales representatives, and executives with minimal administrative overhead.
Extend Call for SIP Desk Phones
Customers can now assign a new Extend Call feature button to their one-X® Desk phone
SIP R2 stations to enable user to extend
an active call to their cell phone. Extension to
Cellular calls that have been answered on a user's mobile phone can be picked up from the
user's
one-X®
Desk phone R2 station.
The Extend Call feature allows customers to stay connected when they are away from their
desks. It also allows customers to seamlessly switch from their mobile phone to their desk
phone.
Per Location AAR Analysis and Digit Conversion
This feature gives customers the same per-location flexibility they currently enjoy with
ARS. This has many uses, one of which is letting customers assign local trunk groups on a
given gateway for outgoing private-network calls from users on that gateway. This
becomes especially important when customers convert independent per-branch PBXs into
gateways connected to a central Avaya Communication Manager server.
Modem over IP Tone Detection Bypass
The Modem over IP Tone Detection Bypass feature offers those customers who use older or
non-standard external equipment such as modems, fax, TTY devices an option to identify
these external equipments through pre administration in Communication Manager to enable
VoIP firmware to immediately put these calls in a pass-through mode. This is an
enhancement over the current implementation in which Communication Manager uses tone
detection to recognize these devices.
Survivable Call Detail Record (CDR) on ESS and Main
Previously in Communication Manager 4.0, this feature preserves the CDR records
associated with calls that occur while a gateway is under the control of the LSP survivable
server. Starting with Communication Manager 5.0, survivable CDR will also be available to
the ESS survivable server and primary server. Customer can now have a consistent way to
collect CDR records across all Avaya servers whether they are primary or survivable servers.

ISDN CCBS Supplementary Service on Busy
In Europe, Middle East and Asia, the public network service providers support the
ISDN Call Completion Busy Subscriber (CCBS) capabilities that enable automatic call back to
a busy subscriber. This ISDN CCBS Supplementary Services is implemented in
Communication Manager 5.0 to support automatic call back to the public network.
Note:
•
The CCBS feature is not supported by all service providers.
•
The Call Completion on No Reply (CCNR) feature is defined by the ETSI standards.
But the CCNR feature is not supported by Communication Manager, or by service
providers for new customers.
Avaya IA770 INTUITY AUDIX Messaging Application
Avaya IA770 software messaging application will now support IMAP4 Internet
Message
Access Protocol allowing customers to use their own IMAP client for message retrieval using
a standard protocol. This is the same functionality currently offered with IALX Messaging
solution.
Avaya G450 Media Gateway
The G450 Media Gateway is a media gateway that can be deployed in medium to large sized
branch locations or in wiring closets that service buildings and floors in a campus
environment. It works in conjunction with Avaya Communication Manager 5.0 software
running on Avaya S8XXX Servers to help deliver intelligent communications to enterprises
of all sizes.
The G450 combines telephony and data networking by providing PSTN toll bypass and
routing data and VoIP traffic over the WAN. The G450 provides full support for Avaya IP and
digital telephones, as well as analog devices like modems, fax machines and telephones.
A single G450 can support up to 450 users when deployed with an S8300 as a branch
gateway in a mid to large branch office or Enterprise. It can serve up to 2400 users when
deployed with S8500 as a campus gateway or in a large branch office.
The G450 can be configured as a standalone S8300 Server or as a survivable gateway to an
Avaya S8XXX Server operating as an External Call Controller (ECC). As a survivable
gateway, the G450 can act as a Local Survivable Processor (LSP) to provide full featured
telephone service to the gateway or it can provide basic telephony features in the Standard
Local Survivability (SLS) mode.

The G450 is a scalable device with a basic configuration consisting of 1 Power Supply Unit
(PSU), 1 Main board and a single Digital Signal Processing (DSP) childboard supporting 80
or 20 VoIP channels. This configuration can be enhanced by adding a redundant PSU unit
and up to three additional DSP childboards, increasing the number of VoIP channels up to
240 channels.
The G450 is a modular device, adaptable to support different combinations of endpoint
devices. While fixed front panel ports support the connection of external LAN switches,
network data ports, Ethernet WAN lines and external routers, eight slots are provided for
plugging in optional media modules. Pluggable media modules provide interfaces for
different types of telephones, trunks, and WAN links. A combination is selected to suit the
needs of the branch. Other telephony modules are also available to provide full support for
legacy endpoints such as analog and digital telephones. A range of WAN modules provide
support for USP and E1/T1 WAN links. IP phones are supported via an external LAN switch.
The G450 chassis features field replaceable DSPs, PSUs, fan tray, and main board for
enhanced reliability.

Avaya IG550 Integrated Gateway Enhancements
Through the joint development aspects of our alliance with Juniper Networks, Avaya and
Juniper have created the Integrated Branch Communications Solution, embedding Avaya's
expertise in voice gateway technology within Junipers' secure J-Series routing platform. The
IG550 Integrated Gateway consists of telephony gateway and interface modules that slot
into Juniper Networks J-Series branch routers. These modules deliver the similar capabilities
of existing Avaya Gx50 Media Gateways in a single box routing/security/telephony solution.
The IG550 provides users with access to centralized Avaya Communication Manager
Applications and targets branch offices of up to 100 users in mid to large Enterprises. The
solution also provides multi level survivability capabilities for the branch users.

Building on this strategic alliance, Avaya is introducing a second set of gateway modules
and media cards in the IG550 Integrated Gateway family. Starting with this release, IG550
will be supported by Juniper’s new J2320 and J2350 routers for the small branch office. The
J6350 and J4350 for mid to large branches will be supported as before. J2320/50 will be
supported by Communication Manager 5.0 and higher.
Included are two new gateway modules, the TGM550-10 and TGM550-20, which together
with the J2320/50 routers, have the capacity and price points to serve the needs of smaller
branches. Also included are several new interface modules to cost-effectively support high
density analog trunks and lines.
Please see product pricing and ordering information below. For more information on Branch
Solutions or the IG550 Integrated Gateway and media cards, please visit

Avaya S8730 Server
With Communication Manager 5.0, Avaya introduced the next generation of the S8700
series Server. The S8730 Server is the follow-on server for the S8720 Server. The S8730
Server has the same capacities and functionality as the S8720 in an XL configuration. The
performance of the S8730 with hardware duplication is equivalent with the S8720 with
hardware duplication as measured in Busy Hour Call Completions.
The S8730 Server is offered in two duplication configurations: either hardware duplication
using the DAL2 duplication memory board, or software duplication using a method of
shadowing data between the active and standby processors in a system without specialized
hardware.
Consistent with other members of the S8700 series, the entire server complex of the S8730
is duplicated. This increases overall system availability and minimizes the risk of one
component causing a failure. The S8730 comes equipped with RAID level 11 controllers,
but the default configuration ships with a single HDD in each server. The second RAID HDD
is an orderable option for the S8730. In addition, a second power supply is also an
orderable option.
1
RAID 1 utilizes a disk mirroring method which creates a set of data on two disks. Each of these disks is
independent of each other and contains a complete copy of the data. If either disk fails, the other disk continues to
function as a single disk until the failed disk is replaced.

equipment, when the equipment arrives on site. The Service Process ends when the
product is taken out of service or when Avaya no longer supports it.
6.1.
Software Support and Hardware Maintenance
In traditional voice systems, hardware, operating system and features were tightly bonded – an
architecture that resulted in maintenance offers that bundled hardware and software support
into a single combined service. With the advent of IP Telephony and the rapid migration toward
open, “software centric” platforms, customers increasingly want flexible and straightforward
maintenance offers where they can separately choose their desired level of software and
hardware support.
Beginning December 2006, Avaya unbundled software and hardware maintenance offers for
most major products. For Communication Manager and Call Center, this new support model
was introduced with version 5.0. Once the rollout is complete worldwide, Avaya will have a
globally consistent set of maintenance offers available through all channels.
In the new structure, software maintenance is available in two offers: Software Support plus
Upgrades (SS+U) and Software Support (SS). Both give customers 24x7 remote technical
support for major problems, as well as easy access to all minor releases, extensive on-line
tools and service packs. Software Support plus Upgrades provides the same entitlements as
Software Support, as well as, access to major releases as they become available. For
customers who want to keep their applications on the cutting edge, Software Support plus
Upgrades ensures immediate access to major releases while also delivering locked-in TCO
savings.

Software Support plus Upgrades and Software Support will begin billing on Day 1 for all
applications and for all channels. Time & Material will no longer be available for software
support.
For hardware, there are three simplified offers: Remote Hardware Maintenance, Remote
Hardware Maintenance with Advance Parts Replacement, and On-Site Hardware
Maintenance with a choice of 8x5 or 24x7 Coverage. All offers include Expert Systems
SM
diagnostics and 24x7 remote technical support. The Advance Parts and On-Site offers also
include equipment replacement. Customers requiring fully comprehensive monitoring will want
to combine SS+U with any of the Hardware Maintenance offers.

6.2.
Avaya Maintenance Software Permission (MSP)
Avaya is dedicated to providing increased value to our customers. Therefore, Avaya now
includes Maintenance Software Permissions (MSPs) with the purchase or upgrade to
Communication Manager 5.0 and subsequent releases. The use of Avaya’s proprietary
Right-to-Use Maintenance Software Permissions, gives customers maintenance capabilities
that will allow you to respond to various alarms and aid in trouble isolation procedures.
Level 1 MSPs provide access to Avaya’s proprietary maintenance software to troubleshoot
station and trunks; whereas Level 2 MSP’s address system and processor alarms.
Customers can choose which level is desired. With the purchase of Communication Manager
5.2, MSPs, once activated, will be licensed to the asset owner/user and are not transferable.
As with the underlying Communication Manager software, Avaya owns all rights, title and
interest in and to MSPs and any underlying data and intellectual property. Avaya’s software
license terms apply to the use of and access to MSPs, including the prohibition of
unauthorized transfers, assignments and access. Avaya will license MSPs only to the asset
owner/user. Therefore, asset owners/users are strictly prohibited from authorizing,
assisting or otherwise permitting any third party (including any third party service provider)
to access MSPs or passwords/logins related to MSP’s. Avaya reserves the right to audit the
use of and access to MSPs at any time and to amend Avaya’s policy on the use of and
access to MSPs. Any asset owner/user in violation of the terms of its license agreement
may lose its right to use MSPs.
Authorized members of the BusinessPartners program will continue to maintain and support
their customers through the use of the DADMIN login as defined by the DADMIN Policy on
support.avaya.com
.
For Communication Manager 4.0 and prior releases, the process for use and activation
related to MSP’s will remain as is.

Description of Firmware Download Policy
Warranty or Post-Warranty Maintenance customers will be entitled to free RTS support
should they encounter problems with their downloads during normal Avaya business hours.
Customers (regardless of their PWM structure), who require assistance during non-business
RTS hours, will be billed at prevailing RTS out-of-hours rates.
For those T&M customers who require GSS assistance, they will be billed at the prevailing
GSS rates. Additionally, any customer/BP that requests that the GSS perform the steps
associated with helping deliver the firmware PCN to the customer’s DEFINITY switch will be
billed at the prevailing GSS rates. As well as, any customer/BP that requests that Avaya

6.10.
Remote Maintenance and INADS
Customers under warranty or maintenance contract must provide either a dedicated
telephone line or allow Ethernet packets to traverse their firewall to Avaya for alarming
purposes. If neither of these is available, then Avaya cannot attempt to remotely diagnose
product troubles. In this case, customers will be assessed per-incident billing charges for
the dispatch.
Communication Manager sends alarms directly to Avaya’s Expert Systems. If the customer is
not under warranty and does not have a post-warranty service agreement they can alarm
locally to their attendant. The US indirect channel has the option of offering local or remote
alarming. Alarms would be sent to an alarm receipt and ticketing device at a dealer location if
they choose to offer a remote alarming option.
Prior to the installation of Communication Manager, the customer is required to install a
communications path for Avaya to connect to the server or possibly gateway. Typically,
customers install a telephone line for the sole purpose of Avaya server installation, maintenance
and support. The availability of an “INADS” telephone line is a condition of warranty. Without
the customer provided remote access allowing Avaya access to the system, Avaya (and/or its
authorized agent) cannot support the terms and conditions of the product warranty.
Information on INADS lines is available at
http://enterpriseportal.avaya.com/ptlWeb/getfile?docID=Mzc3MDgxNg
When an INADS line or IP access are not provided, Avaya technical support will make a good
faith effort to resolve reported problems. Refer to the warranty contract for the complete
terms, conditions and limitations.
6.11.
Remote Alarm Management Service (RAM)
Remote Alarm Management Service is a business-to-business maintenance service offer that
provides remote alarm management service to the dealer, and the dealer passes along this
service in its maintenance offer to its end-user customer. It is not the same as Avaya’s
direct support post-warranty maintenance service. In this way, the Business Partner’s
(BP’s) relationship with the customer is strengthened and preserved. Remote Alarm
Management Service is an automatic trouble reporting and resolution service. RAM Service
provides 24-hour monitoring and management of alarms generated by a BP’s customer’s
system. This service is made possible for the BusinessPartner's customer via INADS
connectivity to Avaya’s patented EXPERT SystemsSM Diagnostic Tools, and the Business
Partner would include this in their maintenance contract to their end-user customer.
If you have any questions regarding the Remote Alarm Management Service that’s available
with Avaya Communication Manager based systems, please contact a Maintenance Offer

APPENDIX A: GLOSSARY OF TERMS AND ACRONYMNS

802.1p/Q IEEE standard 802.1Q and 802.1p provide the means to specify both
a virtual LAN (VLAN) and a frame priority at layer 2 for use by LAN
hubs, or bridges, which can do routing based on MAC addresses.
802.1p/Q provides for 8 levels of priority (3 bits) and a large number
(12 bits) of VLAN identifiers. The VLAN identifier at layer 2 permits
segregation of traffic to reduce traffic on individual links. Because
802.1p operates at the MAC layer, its presence may vary from LAN
segment to LAN segment within a single network region. Flexibility
requires that 802.1p/Q options be administered individually for each
network interface.

Differential Services – a method of specifying service requirements
for IP packets at Layer 3. With the DiffServ option the system
administrator can administer (by region) and download to the
TN2302AP the DiffServ Type-of-Service (TOS) value, thus allowing
data networking equipment to prioritize the audio stream at the IP
level to promote voice quality. DiffServ makes use of the Type-of-
Service (TOS) octet in the existing IP Version 4 header. As such, it
may be set by information senders and used by IP (layer 3) routers
within the network.
Use of DiffServ and/or 802.1p priorities would typically apply to either
or both ends of a connection: the TN2302AP interfaces should be
configured to use the appropriate values for the network(s) to which
they are attached, and the IP end-points should be configured to use

the values appropriate for the network(s) to which they are
connected. In many cases, the communication devices are “local” and
the values are the same; in other cases, the values may be different.
This can be accommodated by downloading default values to the
endpoint to be used in case the endpoint installer or the user has not
provided values.

Buffer
Perhaps the one aspect of IP networks that makes them
fundamentally different from circuit-switched networks is variance in
propagation delay, or jitter. Audio encoding/decoding is basically a
synchronous process: the analog signal is sampled at prescribed
intervals, the samples (or their encoding) are transmitted, the
received samples are clocked out to reproduce the analog signal. IP
networks are basically asynchronous transport devices. Clocks at the
sender and the receiver are not synchronized; hence the receiver may
play out audio slightly faster than it was generated (thereby
sometimes running out of audio to play) or slightly slower (thereby
falling farther and farther behind the source.) To make matters
worse, individual packets of audio may experience more or less delay
as they travel through the network, thereby causing variations in the
inter-arrival time. Some packets may experience “infinite delay” (be
lost) or such long delay that they become useless or stale.
The main technique for dealing with variable propagation delay is the
jitter buffer: Incoming audio is passed through the jitter buffer and
some amount of audio information (PCM samples for example) is
buffered before playing the samples out. If an incoming packet is
delayed somewhat, then the information already in the buffer can be
played out until either the buffer empties or the information arrives.
Since the packets are presumably coming at a fixed rate, when one or
more packets arrive late, some subsequent packets should arrive
“early” (or on time) to refill the buffer. If the buffer runs dry, some
type of audio fill-in must be supplied. As network jitter gets worse,
the size of the jitter buffer must be increased to avoid too many
under runs. Unfortunately, the use of a jitter buffer introduces a delay
proportional to the buffer’s target size. Some products (e.g., Microsoft
NetMeeting) create a large jitter buffer on the order of 200-300ms in
order to handle jitter from virtually any type of connection, which
introduces a “fixed” delay degradation of the conversation.
Cluster
Roaming
Cluster Roaming is a feature that allows a mobile phone to roam
within a cluster. A cluster is a set of trunk groups (of any size)
connected to an Avaya ECS that are used for X-Mobility and share the
same X-Mobility/Wireless type. All DECT trunks form one cluster, all
PHS trunks form another cluster, and all private networking ISDN
trunks that are neither DECT nor PHS form a third cluster for EC500.
A mobile phone may roam between the different switch nodes within
their cluster and the switch can track its location as follows.
Roaming (for this feature) involves the following elements: A user has
an identity (administered XMOBILE station(s)) on multiple Avaya ECS

in a network. The user has origination mapping to an XMOBILE
station on each Avaya ECS. The user dials from his mobile phone to
different Avaya ECS in the network.
When an XMOBILE station originates (Calling Number in ISDN Setup
messages maps to an XMOBILE station) over a trunk group that is a
different from its mobility trunk group but within the same cluster,
then its mobility trunk group is changed to the new trunk group. All
subsequent calls will be delivered to the XMOBILE station using the
new trunk group. DECT and PHS trunk groups (or rather their
associated signaling connections) also support reception of an ISDN
message called Location Update. Reception of this message tells the
PBX that a particular XMOBILE station should change its mobility
trunk to the one used by the Location Update message. All
subsequent calls will be delivered to the XMOBILE station using the
new trunk group.
