z grupy duroplastów. 
Po raz pierwszy otrzymany w 1843 roku 
przez Thomasa Hancocka. 
Dawniej był bardzo ceniony jako 
tworzywo galanteryjne,
obecnie zastępują go inne tworzywa 
sztuczne.
