Patient position: seated

Apply the base of the Kinesio Tex to
the medial border of the spine of the
scapula with the tape directed
inferiorly.

Peel the Kinesio Tex from the paper
liner and place the tape temporarily
on the skin. Do not activate the glue
by rubbing.

Flex and externally rotate the
shoulder to place the hand on the
head. Add trunk flexion to increase
tissue tension.

While stabilizing the base of the
Kinesio Tex, pull the skin superiorly
and laterally to increase tissue
tension.

Direct the medial “y” tail immediately
lateral to the spinous processes of the
4th through the 12th thoracic
vertebra.

The lateral “y” tail surrounds the
lateral border of the lower trapezius to
attach to the lateral aspect of the 12th
thoracic vertebra to enclose the lower
trapezius with both tails of the tape.
