Higher education
After successfully passing the matriculation examination (which in this
country is not that easy, because it is an external exam),anyone
can subscribe to the university. In France they are more than two
million students. Universities are literary and philological
studies, science, law and economics.
Here science is divided into three cycles:
-the frst (two years) - DEUG 1 (Diploma d'Etudes Universities Generals), or
"diploma of general university studies";
license-second cycle
-Maitrise - the equivalent of master's degree;
-The third cycle is devoted to scientifc work and ends with a
doctorate - DEA (Diploma d'Etudes Approfondies), or "diploma-depth study."
