-is used when we talk about habits:

The spelling of third person singular:
-add -s to the base form of the verb
(wants,eats,reads,writes,helps..)
-add -es when the verb end in ss,sh,ch,x,o..
(kisses, goes,fixes,watches,washes)
-end in a consonant+y change to -ies
(carry-carries, fly-flies)
