TEACHERS NOTES
USE This track is particularly designed for use with pupils/students learning English as an additional language but it is useful for a wide range of other pupils/students.
CONTENTS Language of addition and subtraction track - this track practises addition and subtraction but also eight different language items: add, plus, and, more than, take away, subtract, minus, less than
PREPARATION Photocopy the track, enlarging it to A3 if possible - if this is not possible, print out an A4 copy for each learner.

RULES
The first player throws a dice, moves her/his counter and then asks the next player the sum s/he has landed on (using the number on the dice to finish the sum). If the next player can answer the sum they can throw the dice.
So, if a player throws a 3 and lands on
7 take away
they must say "What is 7 take away 3?"
The next player must say 4 before they can throw the dice.

Rules: Throw the dice. Move your counter. Ask the next player the sum you have landed on. Use the number on your dice to finish the sum. If the next player can answer the sum they can throw the dice.
Example: If you throw 3 and you land on `7 take away The next player must say 4 before they can throw the dice. |
