ICFE - International Certificate in Financial English

ICFE (International Certificate in Financial English) jest egzaminem organizowanym przez Cambridge ESOL i skierowanym do finansistów i księgowych. Podobnie, jak ILEC (International Legal English Certificate) sprawdza on znajomość języka angielskiego na poziomie B2/C1.

Testy oraz ćwiczenia przygotowujące do tego egzaminu są przydatne na zajęciach oraz w procesie samodzielnej nauki w przypadku prawników, ekonomistów i wszystkich osób, które pracują w środowisku anglojęzycznym (również w Polsce) i uczestniczą w rozwiązywaniu problemów interdyscyplinarnych, dotyczących szeroko pojętej działalności gospodarczej.

ICFE (International Certificate in Financial English) is an exam organized by Cambridge ESOL and addressed to financiers and accountants. Like ILEC (International Legal English Certificate), it tests English skills at B2/C1 level.

Tests and exercises preparing to this exam are useful at classes and during the process of self-education in the case of lawyers, economists and all other people who work in an English speaking environment (also in Poland) and are involved in solving cross-disciplinary problems concerning business activity in a broad sense.

Definitions:

1. Organic growth - the process of business expansion through the use of its own resources and assets, for example due to increasing overall customer base, increased output per customer or representative, new sales, or any combination of the above. Mergers and acquisitions are examples of inorganic growth.

2. Vertical integration - the process of business expansion into areas that are at different points on the same production path, for example a manufacturer owns its supplier and distributor. Backward and forward integration are types of vertical integration.

3. Venture - a business enterprise involving some risk in expectation of gain; an undertaking that is dangerous, daring, or of uncertain outcome.

4. Middle-of-the-road (business) - not extreme, conventional, average.

5. Brand equity - the value of having a well-known brand name, which translates into higher sales and profit margins.

6. Bottom line - the last figure on a financial profit-and-loss statement - company's profit or loss; the final outcome, conclusion.

bottom line - wynik (strata lub zysk) z działalności firmy; podsumowanie, ostateczny wynik
