“Getting to know Arizona”

Despite the high temperatures, people have come to Arizona since 16^th century in search of gold, grasslands or copper. At the beginning of the 20^th century it occurred that the mother lode was copper and that is why Arizona is called the Copper state.

In the 1920s and 1930s, thanks to the railroads, Arizona won the popularity among people suffering from tuberculosis and wealthy northerners who started wintering in the desert.

Today the golden sun of Arizona makes this place home to some of the most luxurious resorts in the world and to retirees who found its climate absolutely perfect.

Among many natural wonders of Arizona the one that attracts most visitors is the Grand Canyon. Though not the deepest or the widest canyon on earth, it is the most spectacular.

Next to the villages built by the native tribes we can admire the largest dams in the country (the Hoover and Glen Canyon) that created the most spectacular reservoirs which are among Arizona's most popular destinations.

Arizona is both the story of the American West and modern, urbanized land.
