EXCITING MOMENT OF MY MILITARY CAREER
I work for the Navy. I have been a Naval officer since 1990. I used to be The commanding Officer for four years but now I work as MCM officer in the 9th Coastal Defence Flotilla.
J would like to describe you the most exciting moment of my military career. J keep this day in my mind. It was on 7th July 1992, when I became a Commanding Officer of a Ship. This ship was called ”Flamingo”. It was a minesweeper. That day I got up at about 530 because I could not sleep. I took a shower and drunk a small coffee. After that I put on clothes which my wife had prepared the day before. I left my home at about 700 and at about 715 I met the leave office commanding officer of the ship. The weather was wonderful so we went to work on foot. The ship was clean and nicely prepared for this special day and the crew was dressed in full uniforms. The cook made the speciality of ship's cousine and the mess boy prepared the mess. The crew stood on the stern deck and we waited for the commander of the Flotilla. When the superior arrived the ceremony began. The “Commanding officer leave office” handed over the position for me. The boss gave a speech and delivered me the commanding officers flag. next I reported my first report to my boss as commanding officer of the Ship. After that we went to the mess to have a small party. When the boss left my ship the signalman hoisted my flag for the first time to the top of the mast.
