ACTIVITY - Food chain rummy
This game is a mixture of rummy and happy families.
The game can be played by two or three players.
The object of the game is to collect as many complete food chains as possible.
Shuffle the cards and deal out five to each player.
Lay the remaining cards in a pile face up on the table.
Take it in turn to do one of these things:
if you have a pair of cards (e.g. fish and seals) put them on the table and take two more cards from the pack or if you have the three cards for a complete chain, put them on the table and take three new cards;
take the top card from the table and put one of your original cards at the bottom of the pile;
ask one of the other players for an animal (`Please can I have a lion?'); if the other player has the card they must hand it over; if not they must say `No I'm sorry I haven't got one';
add a card to one of your pairs to make a complete chain and take one new card from the pile.
The first person to make three complete food chains is the winner.
