Main character represents all ppl
Messenger - tells us what to think, what the story is going to look like, shows that there is only one good way of reading, understanding it.
The play is to show how to be a good christian
God – disappointed and angry because ppl are more interested in work, not god
Death – servant of God, it is inevitable
Everyman is trying to negotiate, bribe death to give him more time. Then, when he see he cannot, he....
In 15th century all ppl were Catholics, it's a catholic play. W have to rely on or good deeds.
Sola Fide – only faith

Everyman is not afraid of death but of what comes next
In the end Everyman is united with god.

Priests are sinners – a bit of social critique got into the play. If you're a sinner, you can get away with it if you give money to the church
