MartialArchetypes
At3rdlevel,afightersgainstheMartial
Archetypefeature.Herearenewoptionsforthat
feature:ArcaneArcher,Knight,Samurai,and
Sharpshooter.
PlaytestMaterial
Thematerialhereispresentedforplaytestingandto
sparkyourimagination.Thesegamemechanicsarein
draftform,usableinyourcampaignbutnotfully
temperedbydesigniterations.Theyarenotofficially
partofthegame.Forthesereasons,materialinthis
columnisnotlegalinD&DAdventurersLeagueevents.
ArcaneArcher
AnArcaneArcherstudiesauniqueelvenmethod
ofarcherythatweavesmagicintoattacksto
producesupernaturaleffects.Amongelves,
ArcaneArchersaresomeoftheirmostelite
warriors.Thesearchersstandwatchoverthe
fringesofelvendomains,keepingakeeneyeout
fortrespassersandusingmagic-infusedarrows
todefeatmonstersandinvadersbeforetheycan
reachelvensettlements.Overthecenturies,the
methodsoftheseelfarchershavebeenlearned
bymembersofotherraceswhocanalsobalance
arcaneaptitudewitharchery.
ArcaneArrow
Whenyouchoosethisarchetypeat3rdlevel,you
learntochannelmagicintoyourattackswitha
longboworshortbow.
CreateMagicArrow.Asabonusactionon
yourturn,youcancreateonemagicarrowin
yourhand.Thearrowlastsuntiltheendofthe
turnoruntilithitsormissesatarget.Youcan
firethearrowfromashortboworlongbow.The
arrowisamagicweaponthatdealsanadditional
2d6forcedamageonahit.
Youhavetwousesofthisfeature,andyou
regainallexpendedusesofitwhenyoufinisha
shortorlongrest.
ArcaneShot.Whenyougainthisfeature,you
learntwoArcaneShotoptionsofyourchoice
(seetheArcaneShotssectionbelow).Whenever
youcreateamagicarrowwiththisfeature,you
canapplythebenefitsofoneofyourArcaneShot
optionstothatarrow.
YougainanadditionalArcaneShotoptionof
yourchoiceat7th,10th,15th,and18thlevel.
Archer’sLore
At3rdlevel,youlearnafewskillsrelatingtothe
typicaldutiesofanArcaneArcher.Youlearnto
understandmagicaltheoryanddevelopsurvival
skillsforwanderingthewilds.
Yougainproficiencyintwoofthefollowing
skillsofyourchoice:Arcana,Athletics,Nature,
Perception,Stealth,andSurvival.
ConjureArrows
At7thlevel,youlearnaminorbutusefulmagical
trick.Asanaction,youcanconjure20
nonmagicalarrows.Thearrowsappearinyour
handorinacontainer,suchasaquiver,onyour
body.Thearrowsremainfor10minutesoruntil
youusethisfeatureagain;theythenvanish.
Ever-ReadyArrow
Startingat15thlevel,youcanconjurefortha
magic-infusedarrowmoreoftenthanbefore.
Oneminuteafterexpendingyourlastremaining
useofArcaneArrow,youregainoneuseofit.
DeadlyArrow
At18thlevel,yourArcaneArrow’sbonus
damageincreasesto4d6forcedamage.
ArcaneShots
TheArcaneArrowfeatureletsyouchoose
ArcaneShotoptionsatcertainlevels.The
optionsarepresentedhereinalphabeticalorder.
Theseareallmagicaleffects.
BeguilingArrow.Yourenchantmentmagic
causesthisarrowtotemporarilybeguileits
target.Chooseoneofyourallieswithin30feetof
thetarget.Ifthearrowhitsthetarget,thetarget
can’tattackthechosenallyorincludethatallyin
aharmfulareaofeffectuntiltheendofyournext
turn.Thetargetignoresthiseffectifitisimmune
tothecharmedcondition.Thiseffectalsoendsif
thechosenallydealsanydamagetothetarget.
BruteBaneArrow.Youweavenecromantic
magicintoyourarrow.Ifacreatureishitbythe
arrow,anybludgeoning,piercing,orslashing
damagedealtbythecreature’sattacksishalved
untiltheendofyournextturn.

BurstingArrow.Youimbueyourarrowwitha
blastofforceenergydrawnfromtheschoolof
evocation.Ifyouhitacreaturewiththisarrow,
eachcreaturewithin10feetofittakes2d6force
damage.
DefendingArrow.Youuseabjurationmagicto
weaveacharmthatdisruptsyourenemy’s
magic.Acreaturehitbythisarrowsuffers
disadvantageonthenextattackrollitmakes
beforetheendofyournextturn.
GraspingArrow.Whenthisarrowstrikesits
target,conjurationmagiccreatesgrasping,
thornybramblesthatwraparoundthetarget.
Thetargethitbythearrowtakesa–10penalty
tospeed,andittakes2d6slashingdamageifit
moves1footormorewithoutteleporting.The
targetoranycreaturethatcantouchitcanuse
itsactiontotrytoremovethebrambles,which
requiresasuccessfulDC10Strengthcheck.
Otherwise,thebrambleslastfor1minute.
PiercingArrow.Youusetransmutationmagic
totransformyourarrowintoanetherealdart
thatpassesthroughitstargets.Whenyouattack
withthisarrow,itfiresforwardinalinethatis1
footwideand30feetlong.Youmakeaseparate
attackusingyourArcaneArrowagainsteach
creatureinthatline.
SeekingArrow.Usingdivinationmagic,you
grantyourarrowtheabilitytoseekoutyour
target,allowingthearrowtocurveandtwistits
pathinsearchofitsprey.Asanaction,choose
onecreatureyouhaveseeninthepastminute,
andmakearangedattackagainstit,usingthe
ArcaneArrow.Thearrowfliesaroundcornersif
necessary,andthisattackignoresthree-quarters
cover,halfcover,anddisadvantagecausedby
thetargetbeingoutofsightorbeingatlong
range.Theattackautomaticallymissesifthe
targetisoutoftheweapon’srangeorifthereis
nopathlargeenoughforthearrowtotravelto
thetarget.Ifthearrowhitsitstarget,youknow
it,butyoudon’tlearnthetarget’slocationunless
it’swithinyourlineofsight.
ShadowArrow.Youweaveillusionmagicinto
yourarrow,causingittooccludeyourfoe’s
visionwithgraspingshadows.Untiltheendof
yournextturn,thetargethitbythearrowcan’t
seemorethan30feetaway.
Knight
TheKnightisacolossusonthebattlefieldwho
canshrugoffattacksandprotectalliesfrom
harm.Knightsfightfromthesaddlewhenthey
can,andincombattheyareexpectedtoseekout
andlockdownthemightiestoftheenemy’s
forces.Onadventures,theyarethearmored
bulwarkthatstrivestokeeptherestoftheparty
safe.
BorntotheSaddle
Startingat3rdlevel,mountingordismountinga
creaturecostsyouonly5feetofmovement,
ratherthanhalfyourspeed.Inaddition,you
haveadvantageonsavingthrowsmadetoavoid
fallingoffyourmount.Ifyoufalloffit,youcan
automaticallylandonyourfeetifyouaren’t
incapacitatedandyoufalllessthan10feet.
ImplacableMark
At3rdlevel,youexcelatfoilingattacksand
protectingyouralliesbymenacingyourfoes.
Whenyouhitacreaturewithameleeweapon
attack,thetargetismarkedbyyouuntiltheend
ofyournextturn.Acreatureignoresthiseffectif
thecreaturecan’tbefrightened.
Themarkedtargethasdisadvantageonany
attackrollagainstacreatureotherthanyouor
someoneelsewhomarkedit.
Ifatargetmarkedbyyouiswithin5feetof
youonitsturnanditmovesatleast1footor
makesanattackthatsuffersdisadvantagefrom
thisfeature,youcanmakeonemeleeweapon
attackagainstitusingyourreaction.Thisattack
rollhasadvantage,andifithits,theattack’s
weapondealsextradamagetothetargetequal
toyourfighterlevel.
Youcanmakethisspecialattackevenifyou
havealreadyexpendedyourreactionthisround,
butnotifyouhavealreadyusedyourreaction
thisturn.Youcanmakethisattackthreetimes,
andyouregainallexpendedusesofitwhenyou

TheSamuraiisafighterwhodrawsonan
implacablefightingspirittoovercomeenemies.
ASamurai’swillpowerisnearlyunbreakable,
andtheenemiesinaSamurai’spathhavetwo
choices:yieldordiefighting.
FightingSpirit
Startingat3rdlevel,themightofyourwillpower
canshieldyouandhelpyoustriketrue.Asa
bonusactiononyourturn,youcangiveyourself
twobenefits:advantageonallattackrollsand
resistancetobludgeoning,piercing,andslashing
damage.Thesebenefitslastuntiltheendofyour
nextturn.

Startingat18thlevel,yourfightingspiritcan
delaythegraspofdeath.Ifyoutakedamagethat
wouldreduceyouto0hitpoints,youcandelay
thatdamageandimmediatelytakeabonusturn,
interruptingthecurrentturn.Youdon’ttakethe
damageuntilthebonusturnends.Itispossible
todothings,suchasgainingresistance,that
changehowmuchofthatdamageyoutake.
Onceyouusethisfeature,youcan’tuseitagain
untilyoufinishalongrest.
Sharpshooter
TheSharpshooterisamasterofrangedcombat.
Anexcellentsniperandeagle-eyedscout,this
fighterisaperilousfoewhocandefeatanentire
warbandsolongastheyarekeptatrange.
SteadyAim
Beginningwhenyouchoosethisarchetypeat
3rdlevel,youraimbecomesdeadly.Asabonus
actiononyourturn,youcantakecarefulaimata
creatureyoucanseethatiswithinrangeofa
rangedweaponyou’rewielding.Untiltheendof
thisturn,yourrangedattackswiththatweapon
