Size C (2.5mm) crochet hook
4ply yarn (fingering) small amount of red,
orange, green, blue, light brown, light blue and
yellow
Black felt
Black sewing thread
Light brown sewing thread

Crochet tightly so that stuffing does not
show through

Notes: The yarn I used is Rowan Siena. It is
a 4ply mercerized cotton yarn. Size 3
cotton crochet thread can also be
substituted. You can also use a sport weight
or worsted weight yarn. Your owl will just
turn out larger.
Eyes
Part 1
Using yellow yarn
Chain 2
Rd 1: 6 sc in second chain from hook (6)
Slip stitch to bind off. Leave long tail to sew to
body. Attach the front part of the safety eyes.
Do not put the back on yet.

Part 2
Using light brown or light blue yarn
Chain 2
Rd 1: 6 sc in second chain from hook (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12)
Rd 3: sc in next sc, inc in next sc around (18)
Slip stitch to bind off. Leave a long tail to sew to
body.
Now take yellow part of eyes and push safety
eyes through center of blue/light brown part.
Do not attach back of safety eyes yet. Set the
eyes aside.
Body
Using red or blue yarn
Chain 2
Rd 1 : 12 sc in second chain from hook (12)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc, around (24)
Rds 3-4: sc in each sc, around (24)
Rd 5: sc in next sc, inc in next sc, around (36)
Rd 6: sc in each sc, around (36)
Using orange or green yarn
Rds 7-18: sc in each sc, around (36)
Using red or blue yarn
Rds 19-20: sc in each sc, around (36)
Rd 21: sc in next sc, dec over next sc, around
(24)
Place eyes on body(refer to photo) attach backs
to safety eyes. Sew loose threads through body.
Start stuffing.
Rd 22: sc in each sc, around (24)
Stuff some more.
Rd 23: dec over next 2 sc, around (12)
Slip stitch to bind off. Leave a long tail to close
up bottom.
Using light brown or light blue sewing thread
sew eyes to body so they are not sticking up.
Wings (make 2)
Using red or blue yarn
Chain 2
Rd 1: 6 sc in second chain from hook
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc, around (12)
Rd 3: sc in next sc, inc in next sc, around (18)
Rd 4: sc in next 5 sc, inc in next sc, around (21)
