Instructions

You will need: one copy of the board (two pages) per three or four
students; one die and three/four counters per group

•  Divide students into groups of three or four and give each group a

board, counters and a die. If one student has a watch that shows
seconds, make him/her the timekeeper for the group.

•  Students take it in turns to throw a die. When they land on a square

with a sentence on it, they have to talk for 30 seconds about the
sentence they have landed on. They must begin with an expression
for agreeing and disagreeing and then continue by giving reasons to
support their opinion.

•  If a student cannot think of anything to say or stops talking before

the 30 seconds are up, he/she has to move back to his/her original
square. If you have a quiet class, allow each student 15 seconds’
thinking time before speaking. The student who reaches the Finish
square first is the winner.
