Komputery to maszyny elektroniczne, które mogą przyjmować dane w określonej formie, przetwarza dane i zwraca wyniki przebiegu jako informacje w specyficznym formacie.

Z przetwarzaniem związane są trzy podstawowe kroki. Pierwszy, dane są ładowane do pamięci komputera. Następnie, gdy program jest uruchomiony, komputer przygotowuje ustawienia poleceń i przetwarzanie danych. W końcu, możemy zobaczyć wyniki (wyjściowe) na ekranie albo wydruk.

Informacje w formie danych oraz programy znane są pod nazwą „ software” natomiast elektroniczne i mechaniczne części tworzące system komputerowy nazywane są „hardware”.

Standardowy system komputerowy składa się z trzech głównych sekcji: centralna jednostka przetwarzająca(CPU), pamięć główna i peryferia.

5. What we can see on the screen or in the printed form? (The results)

6. How do we call information in the form of data and programs? (Software)

7. How do we call the electronic and mechanical parts that make up a computer system? (Hardware)
