Application

The PC-28 pressure transmitter is designed to meas-

ure pressure, underpressure and absolute pressure of

gases, vapours and liquids.

Design

The active sensing element is a piezoresistive silicon

sensor, separated from the medium by a diaphragm

and a selected type of manometric liquid.
A silicone-protected electrical circuit is situated in the

case (Ingress Protection rating from IP 54 to IP 67

depending on the type of electrical connection used).

Calibration

Potentiometers can be used to shift the zero position

and the range by up to ±10%, without altering the set-

tings.

Assembly

In view of its small mass, the transmitter can be

mounted directly on the installation. When measuring

the pressure of vapour or other hot media, a siphon

tube or impulse line should be used. We recommend

a manometric valve before the transmitter for easier

installation and for resetting or even replacement of

the unit without shutting down your process.
In the case of orders for transmitters with threads

other than M20×1.5 (e.g. G ½"), we perform the ap-

propriate reduction.
For measurement of levels and pressures requiring

special process connectors (e.g. in the food and

chemical industries) the transmitter is equipped with

an Aplisens diaphragm seal.
Assembly equipment and a full range of diaphragm

seals are described in detail later in this catalogue.

Measurements in hazardous areas

The PC-28 transmitter is spark-proof and has

Exi

a

I/IICT6 factor (under KDB decision no. 98.457W).

The installation of the transmitter in a hazard zone

requires the use of a spark-proof power supply and

measurement circuit certified as fulfilling the following

conditions: I

max

93 mA, U

max

28 V.

We recommend the use of the Aplisens ZS-30Ex

spark-proof power supplier/separator.
