1. You are Personnel Managers in a big corporation. You need to hire two production
engineers. Decide together what qualities a production engineer should have, what
qualifications and what other requirements a proper candidate must have. .
2. Decide together which method of food preservation is best for different kinds of foods e.g.
fruit and vegetables, meat, fish etc. Think about storage time. Discuss which method is better
for long and short term preservation.
3. Your company is going to build a bridge over the big river. Think about important factors for
bridge building. Decide what kind of bridge is best for big spans, think about materials you
might use and other important things.
4. You are journalists working for a big newspaper. You are going to write an article about
Millennium Bridge in London. Decide what questions you would ask construction engineers
about the construction details, specifications ( length, width, type, material used etc. (You
don’t have to think about the answers)
5. You need to order plastic packaging for your products. Decide what kind of packaging would
be most efficient for fruit and vegetables, dairy products, meat and sausages or electronic
equipment .

of travelling. Give arguments for and against.
14. You want to live in an eco-city but your partner refuses. Try to convince your partner that life
in an eco-city is possible and comfortable.
15. You want to make a robot. Think about: what you would use it for, what features it should
have, what shape or dimensions it should have.
16. Do you think stealth technologies are necessary for defence policy? Discuss. Think about
