1  Introduction  

This Release Notice identifies the changes made with the release 2.0 version of the Alcatel-
Lucent VPLS course and exam from the Alcatel-Lucent Service Routing Certification 
Program.   

 

Course duration – 5 days (unchanged) 

Exam duration – 90 minutes (unchanged) 

Exam questions – 60 (unchanged) 

2  Summary of Course Changes  

•  Added basic review of Ethernet and MPLS 
•  Added description and illustrations of common VPLS topologies such as ring, partial 

mesh and metro to metro 

•  Added details of MTU and its impact on VPLS components such as SAP/SDP 
•  Reduced coverage of loop control and Rapid Spanning Tree  
•  More material on redundancy including multi-chassis LAG and active/standby 

pseudowires  

•  Increased discussion of scalability issues and added coverage of Provider Backbone 

Bridging (PBB) 

•  Added coverage of OAM features such as 802.3ah and 802.1ag
