Stitch ‘n Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker
Clarification for “Short n Sweet” pattern
The following information may help those who are having difficulties with the front
shaping section of this pattern. Please see also the errata page for the book, located at
http://www.bust.com/knithappens/snbhh-errata.pdf
Although there is no error in the pattern, there
seems to be some confusion regarding the
shaping on Rows 6 through 9 of the Right Front.
These rows will add a half pattern to the front
edge. Row 6 of the established pattern has a
half shell on each end of the row. In Row 6 of
the Right Front, you will work an increase by
working a complete shell at the beginning of
the row instead of a half shell. Then on Row
7, you just work in established pattern across,
working in the last complete shell maintaining
the established pattern for Row 7 for the
stitches you have added. Then, work Row 8 in
established pattern across. In order to finish the
extra half pattern on the front edge, you need
to attach a separate strand at the beginning
of Row 8 and ch 3, then fasten off. This extra
“chain” will be worked into on Row 9. Go back
to the end of Row 8 and pick up the “dropped
loop” to work Row 9. Work in established
pattern across till you get to the added “ch
3”, ch 2, skip first 2 ch of added “ch 3”, V-st in
last ch. You will now have a half pattern at the
underarm side and a full pattern at the front
edge. Just continue to work across 1 1/2 (1 1/2,
2 1/2, 2 1/2) patterns.
