FOR SERIOUS PEOPLE ONLY

Some performers want to be taken seriously as students of human nature.
Their mentalism is slanted towards the arena of "psychology" not "psychic"
shenanigans. Such performers need appropriate tools, and simple yet
precise information regarding the human mind.

To be taken seriously, these performers can't just toss words around that
"sound good". Any legitimate psychologist or student of human nature can
easily see through most of mentalism's "quackery".

Until now, the only option a mentalist or magician had to become properly
informed was to go through years of training in psychology. Only after such
tedious studies could these performers pull off anything with a true sense
of psychological soundness.

This work will give you both the tools you need and the insights into the
human mind required to appear well trained in the psychological arena.
This information is easily remembered without years of study. The facts
about the conscious and subconscious minds, as well as their respective
"jobs" in the human psyche, will be given to you in simple and clear
language.

Along the way you will also get a feel for how people involved in
psychology speak, and key words that can be used to create the illusion of
psychological professionalism.

By the time you have finished reading this Training Manual, you will indeed
know as much as many psychologists concerning the workings and
"language" of the subconscious mind. You will have a better understanding
of the use of our conscious minds and how they work for us too.

This Manual contains true and legitimate explanations of the mechanics of
the human mind. In this body of work you will not find "sounds good"
quackery or words and ideas that seem reasonable, but fall far outside the
realms of accepted psychology.

Every effort has been made to insure the proper use of terms and theories
throughout this work. Even the "bull" has many legitimate elements of
truth. Certainly nothing in this Manual goes against well-accepted
premises and knowledge in mainstream psychology. It's just that you will
learn these things far easier than if you spent years going to formal
schools or psychological education study classes. In fact you will know

1

more about psychology than many psychologists know, or care to truly
understand, by the time you finish reading this Manual.

This work and its system known as S.A.R., has been deemed correct and
true by therapists and psychologists themselves. This was the ultimate
test. It has passed with flying colors.

Several reputable people asked us to train other psychologists in our
system. They suggested price tags of thousand of dollars per person to
give this training. We declined. We loved the idea of the money, but the
truth is this system pulls the covers off certain deceptions inherent in
psychology and science itself.

We figured psychologists wouldn't be too thrilled about that once they
knew the truth. So we chose to "train" only those people consciously
involved in such deceptions - Mentalists and Magicians.

To be sure we won't make nearly the same amount of money by being this
honest, but we're sure we'll get the same positive feedback from our
performing friends that we'd get from those more "traditional" folks.

Besides, it's just more fun this way. At least we know that you will laugh at
these deceptions with glee, instead of trying to lynch us for uncovering
such diabolical, yet useful, illusions.

With these things in mind then, we give to you the S.A.R. System and
complete Training Manual. We hope you will be pleased with the materials
and the results you will achieve.

After years of research into this project, we believe we can offer you a
sound psychological reading system unlike anything published before in
magic or mentalism. The difference is in the legitimacy of the system itself.
"But it plays" has been a universal "out" for far too long. Psychologists
aren't fooled by the made up systems so many performers use. Most well
educated people know better too, even if they won't tell you to your face.
With S.A.R. your foundation is solid. You don't have to "fake it". S.A.R.
provides proof that it works. It's as simple as that. It's validity has been pre-
approved!

S.A.R : SUBCONSCIOUS ANALYSIS AND REPROGRAMMING

This amazing system is designed to take "psychic readings" out of the
darkened corners of the strange, and place them into a realm of
respectability as well as psychological probability.

Stripping the illusions off psychology itself, we have found a great many
psychological theories and concepts that are either self-fulfilling, or self-
deluding.

With all due respect to our much favored field, we have learned some of
the "tricks" psychology actually uses on itself, as well as its clients.

Not that most psychologists are aware of such things mind you. We just
can't help looking to see through illusions - no matter where we find them!

Understanding the positive assumptions and illusions that are inherent in
some areas of psychology, we have turned the tables on this field, allowing
you to do readings that are "psychologically sound".

This system is truly psychological. One part logical, the other part a bit
psycho. Although this system was developed based on principles of
illusion, this should not be taken to mean that this system is a "fake" or a
"con".

We need to really stress this point. A "theory", be it in psychology or
science, is just another word for a "guess". It may be argued such guesses
are "educated" - whatever that means. Nonetheless theories are guesses,
plain and simple.

That doesn't mean that theories are wrong. It doesn't mean that theories
are right. It only means that such guesses might be right. On the basis of
the concept that theories are guesses that might possibly be true, they are
usually tested out.

Ultimately, what determines whether or not a theory is "true" depends on
whether this theory seems to work, most of the time. In other words, if a
theory seems to get the results it claims it can produce, then it is generally
acknowledged as a "legitimate theory".

On the surface, this appears to be totally logical. After all, you wouldn't call
a theory "wrong" after you've just seen the positive results of that theory at
work.

3

background image

But in actual fact, the results may or may not be based on what the theory
claims is the cause of such results. The results might be real, but that
doesn't mean the explanation of what caused those results are real.

So what? So, in this system we take advantage of the "theory illusion". All
the aspects of the "theory illusion" that we have just detailed are built into
the S.A.R. System.

We repeat. An illusion doesn't mean that the results are a fake or a con. By
using illusions in a productive manner, we can get positive results, and that
is what you and your "clients" are after, now isn't it?

S.A.R. does seem to get the results it claims it can produce. In fact, a
client literally sees that he/she has made dramatic changes by the end of
your time together. The client actually takes home proof of the changes
made during their "session".

S.A.R. has been tested and reviewed for several years before we
published this system. In that time S.A.R. was given examination by
psychologists and therapists for revue. We did not tell them it was a "trick".

The least complimentary response we received was "Of course this is a
legitimate system. Like systems have been in use throughout the ages -
we know Carl Jung as one had similar techniques. While I find S.A.R to be
completely valid, I find nothing entirely new in your system."

While some folks might have been disheartened by such a revue, we were
naturally exhilarated. Imagine. A system based on illusion, for magicians
and mentalists, was repeatedly called "valid" and "legitimate". Not bad for
a "trick"!

We have yet to have a psychologist of any stature rebuke what S.A.R.
does, or the apparent soundness of its base premise. We don't even doubt
its base premise. It's just that all we were after was a sensible appearing
premise for "psychic readings". We definitely got more than we bargained
for! We are extremely pleased with the results we get with S.A.R and we
know you will be pleased as well.

Best of all, S.A.R. is interesting psychology. It's actually as entertaining as
it is believable.

4

background image

S.A.R. stands for Subconscious Analysis and Reprogramming. In short
this means that you not only "read" a client, you also apparently reprogram
the client's subconscious mind! That's one heck of a trick no matter who
you talk to!

Does it really work? Yes, it does. The degree to which the reprogramming
sequence works depends on the client. If the client follows your
instructions (which we will give you fully) the probability is quite high that
some great changes can take place for your client.

Other clients will notice minor changes in their attitude and behavior. Still
others will see little change at first, but notice more dramatic changes later
on. And then there are clients who have said to Tank, "Gee, I've seen
many psychic readers, but this is by far the most impressive reading I've
ever had!"

S.A.R. can guarantee one thing. The client must admit that they are aware
that a change has taken place, and that they can see this change clearly.
What other system can make such a guarantee?

This is what sets S.A.R. apart from anything else in the world of
"readings". You never have to worry about being successful. You never
have to worry about coming to a truly impressive finish. It's all built right in
to the system.

S.A.R. guarantees these things. No if, and or buts. A simple yet diabolical
language deception takes care of it all!

S.A.R. is based on so many other linguistic deceptions that we cannot
possibly point out each and every one. Those of you who have Wonder
Words will clearly see these deceptions.

However there is no need for you to be consciously aware of all of the
brilliant little devices we have built into S.A.R. You will take advantage of
these things naturally as you go through the system. The few things you
will need to know are easily recalled. The rest will be right there in front of
you in black and white during your reading.

There are many aspects to S.A.R., and we will give to you the complete
instruction on how to use these marvelous tools.

5

background image

Once you are aware of all the elements you have at your disposal, you
may pick and choose as you see fit. This is in line with what happens in
psychological evaluations and therapeutic sessions that are deemed
"legitimate". We see no reason for you not to do the exact same thing.

You will be as legitimate as you think you are. The "Training Manual" is
simply a tool to help you feel more legitimate. Because you will have been
"trained" by us, and have access to the knowledge and techniques that we
use in this system, you will be able to call yourself a true "S.A.R.
Technician". You will even have a diploma to prove it!

The fact of the matter is, if you read everything we have given you
regarding this system, you will be quite knowledgeable indeed. You will not
only feel legitimate, you will be legitimate.

This does not mean you should call yourself a "psychologist". You are an
S.A.R. Technician. You can be an S.A.R. trained technician because you
will have read our training materials, and because we have told you that
you are an "S.A.R. Technician".

If you call yourself a "psychologist" you can get in deep legal trouble. DO
NOT CALL YOURSELF A "PSYCHOLOGIST". That is unless of course
you actually have such training, and the appropriate degrees and
diplomas.

While S.A.R. does involve "psychology", many of the system's techniques
are not well known to "psychologists". To avoid debate among such people
then, we say that S.A.R. is "subconscious analysis". This phrase implies
"psychology" without ever having to make such a claim directly. It will
serve you well to stick to the phrases that we give you in this system.
These terms allow you to imply a great many things, without having to
back this up with direct proof.

If someone asks where you were "trained", you may quite honestly say "I
was trained through the Center for Applied Symbolism and Pragmatic
Psychology". Or you might say "I was trained by the developers of this
system under the auspices of the C.A.S.P."

You can then explain that the "C.A.S.P." stands for "The Center for Applied
Symbolism and Pragmatic Psychology". If someone asks why there is only
one letter "P" in "C.A.S.P.", smile wisely and say "It's symbolic."

In fact it is symbolic. The reason there is only one letter "P" for the words
"Pragmatic Psychology" is that we feel that all psychology should be

6

background image

"pragmatic". In other words we refuse to train people in psychology that
isn't practical. We believe there are many theories in psychology that have
little practical value. We at the "Center" do not teach "psychology". We
only teach "psychological principles" that produce practical results. Thus
the single letter "P" is symbolic of these ideals.

If they have any other questions, show them your diploma.

If someone presses you for details of the training or how long you had to
be trained to do this say "I was selected to receive the training among a
rare few, and I do not intend give up the details that I was fortunate
enough to receive."

Or say "I completed my training and passed the final certification process. I
am certified by the C.A.S.P. Here's my certificate."

Or something like that. We're sure you get the idea.

If someone presses you really hard, point to the bottom of your S.A.R.
sheets and say "Look it's for entertainment only. Relax!"

None of this should be construed that we have ever had such encounters.
We haven't. To the contrary, we have received a great deal of interest and
positive speculation from the psychologists who have seen this at work.

Of course these psychologists never felt threatened by us. We never
claimed that we were "psychologists". Even with our backgrounds, we
never mention anything except "S.A.R." and "C.A.S.P."

The reason we use such acronyms, or letters for titles, is purely
psychological too. Most people when they hear such initials automatically
figure that such a thing actually exists. People tend to give a certain
amount of credibility to titles that are identified by initials only. Look at our
college degrees. BA., MA., Ph.D., MD., etc. Consider our government.
There's the C.I.A., F.B.I., D.E.A., etc. Then there are those medical terms
like DOA, ER., etc.

We have been so used to accepting that initials are credentials, most
people never stop to consider otherwise. Of course you know better now,
don't you?!!

7

background image

As a point of fact the C.A.S.P. is a place within the minds of Tank and
Kenton. That doesn't mean it isn't "real". It's just that it is real in our minds.
We do however have a mailing address. It is the same address as all of
our work:

C.A.S.P.

3104 E. Camelback Rd., Suite #312

Phoenix, AZ

85016

Attention: Kenton Knepper

This is primarily for your own information. You may mention to people
however that the C.A.S.P. is located on Camelback Road in the Biltmore
area of Phoenix, Arizona.

This is true. It also sounds good. Many people are aware that the name
"Biltmore" has to do with high rent business locations throughout the world.
There are even people aware of "Camelback Road" across the country,
much to our surprise. Phoenix of course is known as a very large city, and
is a well-established "resort town". Big cities have lots of "important
research facilities". This too gets subconsciously placed into the
psychological mix.

If you simply must, you may give the full address of the C.A.S.P. to
someone. Your call. Just don't be flooding us with your clients' responses.
After all, you really should have your address and phone number on all
materials that you hand out. You get a lot more work that way!

The C.A.S.P. has a phone number of course, but does not give it out to the
general public. The Center is a research and training facility. Only those
involved in its programs have access to its voice numbers. You may repeat
this phrase anytime you need to. It is true. It also sounds good.

We know you are eager to get to the system itself. But like any true
system, you need to have a solid foundation on which you can work. In
any legitimate training you are first shown the underlying principles of a
system before you can use that system.

As we have already stated, S.A.R. is a legitimate system. It gets actual
results when it is used properly. To be certified as an S.A.R. Technician
you must have the following training.

8

background image

Don't worry. It isn't difficult to understand. The training is full of devious yet
positive little deceptions for you to laugh about. You'll also find many
fascinating concepts that will grab your imagination. By the time you finish
the training, you'll be far wiser and clearer about the workings of the
human mind than many "hard core" scientists and psychologists.

And you won't have to go to school for days on end either!

Not only that, but you can call a "recess" or "nap time" whenever you want
to! Not a bad school to go to for "in-depth training".

So the classroom is open and the bell has rung. Your Instructors start with
the following:

Begin by practicing the following terms. They will help you get in the swing
of things, and will make you sound even more legitimate. These terms are
the "psychological equivalent" to those we use in magic and mentalism.
Know them well.

Client : A spectator is never to be called a spectator. In this system

any spectator should be referred to as "a client".

Session : A reading is never called a reading. Readings are things

that "psychics" do. Time spent with a client is not "a sitting" either. That's
what mediums and spiritualists do. S.A.R. Technicians do "sessions".
These sessions are of no particular length in time. S.A.R. sessions take as
long as you decide they should take. They might easily vary with each
client. No matter what the length, any time you spend with a client is a
session.

Indications : Everything that you "read" about a client is an

indication. This word is often used by science and psychology. It provides
you with a built in "out". An indication never means that something is
absolutely true. Indications mean that something might be true. Then again
the opposite might be true too. An indication sounds very legitimate. In
point of fact, it's just a sneaky way of saying "probable guess". Always say
"This is an indication of..." or "This indicates that...". This leaves you for a
lot more wiggle room as you will see later on.

Potential : Every "indication" indicates a potential. This could be a

client's potential to achieve something for example. If the client isn't
achieving this thing, it doesn't mean that you are wrong. It just means that
the client isn't living up to his/her potential in this area.

9

background image

There can also be potential problem areas. This could mean that

the client is aware of problems in this area. This could also mean that the
client isn't aware of problems in this area. Still the potential for problems
exists. Again, you can never be "wrong". There is a potential for anything.
That may or may not mean it actually exists!

Factor: Everything in a person's life is a "factor" involved in their

current situation. Just because something might be a "factor" involved in
their issues, doesn't mean it is important. Still, when most people are told
something is a "factor" in their life, they tend to consider a way that this
thing might play a part somehow. People tend to make a "factor" fit their
reality just because you call it a "factor". A factor also implies a matter of
degrees that is never really defined. Scientists and psychologists throw
this word around with great importance. You should too. It sounds great
and really doesn't mean much of anything specifically.

THE THREE "P's":

There are three words that begin with the letter "P" that you should always
keep in mind. These words help you to further "hedge your bets" when
making any statement.

Possibility: As in "There is a possibility that this is an indication" of

such and such. Sure it's "possible". Anything is "possible", but that doesn't
make it true. Still, the word "possibility" is used throughout science and
psychology as if this is some type of practical description.

Plausible: As in "It is certainly plausible that this could be an

indication of what keeps you from being successful in this area". The word
"plausible" hints that something is only slightly more likely than a
"possibility". It's all a matter of degrees, and these supposed degrees of
truth are never clearly defined. Nonetheless, people tend to accept such
statements blindly. They also tend to bend the various "degrees" to fit what
they already know.

Probability: As in "There is a certain degree of probability here that

such and such is a factor in your current situation." A "probability" is the
most likely degree of truth, but that still doesn't mean that you are claiming
it is true. It's "probably" true, but that doesn't mean it is. Again, you can
never really be wrong.

10

background image

You will notice that all of these words are quite common in scientific and
psychological evaluations and theories. You will also notice that all of
these words are not really very specific at all. These words tend to hint at
things without clearly taking any responsibility for an absolute degree of
truth.

Now since S.A.R. has to do with the conscious and subconscious minds,
we give to you some very important and direct information about these two
terms:

Conscious Mind : This is the mind we are consciously aware of

using. This is the mind we use when we focus our attention on something.
This is the mind that we use to reason with. This is the mind that creates
an assumption. The conscious mind is involved in creating categories
and directing interpretations.

Subconscious Mind : This part of the mind is highly symbolic. It

does not create assumptions the way the conscious mind does. The
subconscious mind elaborates only on that which the conscious mind pays
attention to. In other words, the subconscious mind doesn't think on its
own. It simply takes whatever the conscious mind gives to it, and expands
on this base assumption.

To review, the conscious mind notices something, and then makes an
assumption about what it has noticed. The subconscious mind takes over
from there. Subconscious mind expands and elaborates on the
assumption it has received by the conscious mind.

Since the subconscious mind is symbolic, it responds best to pictures and
hints and things that are stated indirectly. If you can just get the
conscious mind to focus on something, subconscious mind will
expand on whatever that is.

The workings of these two "minds" are really that simple and direct.
Understanding this basic yet powerful relationship allows you to do
wonders at the subconscious level.

This is the key to how S.A.R. creates changes on the subconscious level.
Subconscious mind holds symbolic elaborations of all the things a person
has ever experienced. Good or bad, it doesn't matter. The subconscious
mind remembers.

11

background image

The subconscious mind will also help the conscious mind represent these
memories symbolically. In actions, words, body movement and art, the
subconscious mind signals its inner expansions and ideals.

If you have ever "mindlessly doodled" some scribbles on a piece of paper,
then you know exactly what we are talking about. The conscious mind can
be focused in one direction, while the subconscious mind will express
symbolically how it truly feels.

S.A.R. asks clients to just casually "doodle" on half a piece of paper. Then
you as the Technician reveal certain things based on these symbolic
expressions. Finally, you have the client redraw the picture to create a
symbolic change in the subconscious memory banks. The client sees the
changes between these two pictures. They agree that the second picture
is much more like what they want their lives to be.

The conscious mind therefore sees a reminder that it needs to focus on
more positive changes. The subconscious mind sees these same changes
represented symbolically, and naturally expands on these symbolic hints.
This in turn creates subconscious changes.

Therefore positive changes really can and do occur for clients!
When the client leaves with the picture, you give several specific
instructions for the client to follow. These things, if the client will do them,
will further deepen the changes at both the conscious and subconscious
levels.

A WORD OF WARNING : You are truly helping people to change their
inner programs at a subconscious level. If you purposely try to create
negative feelings or more "bad programming" for your client, the result will
backfire on you! The client will become instantly abusive not just verbally,
but quite possibly physically.

There is absolutely no harm that can be done with this system that a
client's own subconscious mind won't "override". You will have no
problems in this area whatsoever as long as you continually move the
client in a positive direction. Try to "mess" with someone, and you're in for
bigger trouble than we can describe. The subconscious mind is that part of
the mind that retains all the "animal instincts" and "brute strength" a person
can muster. It is that part of the mind responsible for "super human feats"
of strength and endurance. Try to play with it negatively, and you'll get
more than you think you deserve!

12

background image

We repeat. If your intentions are to create positive changes in your clients,
you will never even have to think about such things. Certainly you will have
nothing to fear but an abundance of compliments and possibly a few
overbearing "hugs".

We have given you fair warning. The path you take is yours. The results
you get will be all yours too. Choose wisely.

The Papers

All analysis, whether scientific or psychological, involves plenty of paper.
The unspoken rule is "The more paper, the more likely the analysis is
legitimate." Not that scientists or psychologists go around blatantly stating
such a rule mind you. It's just inherent in their work. It's an assumption
most analytical people buy into without ever realizing it.

Once we caught our own assumptions in such matters, we immediately
worked these concepts into S.A.R.

"Psychic Readers" give out a single sheet of paper to their spectators. No
self respecting psychologist would ever do such a thing! At least several
sheets of paper are deemed "necessary" for an analysis to be considered
"in-depth" by scientific terms.

S.A.R. Technicians give their clients several sheets of analysis, a sheet or
two of "clinical focus statements", along with the clients own work from
which the analysis is drawn.

We know handing out more paper to clients costs you more pennies. But
where else can you apparently certify your work for under a buck?

The more papers you give away the more legitimate you appear to be in
general. Besides, people don't mind paying you more if they get more stuff
in return. (This is a psychological principle called "reciprocity". Don't worry,
you don't have to remember it.)

There's another even more devious reason for giving out all these papers
to a client. No matter what you have said during your session, the client
can "review" the meanings of their analysis by reading the papers they
receive.

13

background image

These papers actually do a reading for you long after you're finished your
session. These papers are secretly designed to fit anyone's current
situation, no matter what that is! These papers also seem to be quite
specific. These are no mere "cold reading" generalizations. In fact, many
of the statements are considered "psychologically sound".

The truth is however that these papers use scientific and psychological
terms in a way that force the client into accepting these various ideas as
true. You don't have to know how this works. You only have to know that it
does work.

This is another reason why it's important to give your clients all of these
papers.

Even if your session didn't seem to be all that great in the moment, it will
become great once the client reviews and reads the materials you give to
them. In a very brief time your session will probably be better than it
actually was! Fortunately the client tends to lump all of this together. Once
again, you just can't go wrong.

You never have to worry about being "inaccurate" in a session. Whatever
you say will be modified by the papers you give to the client in the end.

When your client shares his papers with others, you get more clients.
People are so impressed with what the papers indicate that they want to
experience S.A.R. for themselves. Next thing you know you'll have more
clients. Better still, this next batch of clients will be convinced ahead of
time that your work is legitimate. Every piece of paper you give out to a
client means more great word of mouth for you.

Now you see why everyone loves to bombard their clients with plenty of
papers. Papers do many things for you all at once. They keep working for
you, long after you've gone home to sleep. Not bad for a couple of extra
pennies!

Right about now you're probably thinking "There are a lot of things so far
that I have to remember!"

Actually you don't have to remember this stuff. It is important however that
we give you a complete overview of the various devices at work in this
system. The more you know about this system, the more convincing and
secure you will be when using it.

14

background image

You will also find that you can recall most of these things quite easily
without any real effort. This happens because the principles we use are
based on plain old fashioned "common sense". Once you understand the
logic behind all the "psycho-babble", your own conscious mind will trigger
the information you now have in your subconscious mind.

Every sentence you have read has been "memorized" by your own
subconscious mind. This happens naturally as you focus on reading and
understanding the text in this work.

Your subconscious mind recalls everything your conscious mind has ever
focused on. This is as true for the principles revealed in this work, as it is
for everything else to which you are truly attentive.

Since this happens naturally, there is no need for you to "struggle" trying to
memorize the principles we give to you.

To increase your ability to recall all of the principles in this Manual, simply
reread the Manual a couple of times. This will allow for an even deeper
focus. The more intense the focus, the easier it is to recall a clear picture
of the details.

Think of your conscious mind as a camera lens. The subconscious mind is
like the film in the camera. The film will come out as clear as the focus of
the camera lens. When you focus clearly, the film makes the past picture
easy to review. So focus clearly and you will easily "remember" everything.
Our minds just naturally work that way!

Before we go any further, stop and consider how much you have already
learned. How many psychologists do you think can clearly and simply
describe "memory" and how to make it better? How many scientists can
tell you the deceptions created by the amount of paper they use? How
many therapists honestly know that certain words they use are really just
"outs" in disguise?

How many people expounding their "theories" are completely aware that
theories create an illusion of truth? When was the last time you heard an
expert say "The subconscious mind simply expands and elaborates on
whatever the conscious mind is focused on"? If you are well educated
about human nature, when did you learn that you can change
subconscious programs by changing subconscious symbols?

15

background image

You know all of these things now and more. You already have them clearly
set into your own mind. You have "focused" on these things and the
picture is beginning to develop clearly...

The little bit of study you are doing right now can better equip you in the
realms of the mind and human nature than many years of formal training.
Do not dismiss this important knowledge just to "see how the system
works".

You won't really understand the system unless you first understand the
principles involved. Once you know the principles, the actual performance
of the system becomes extremely simple and basic.

The real workings of a session are far simpler than all the training you
receive. However without the appropriate training, the system itself falls
flat. You need to know, then you can do.

S.A.R. begins with a client making "doodles" on half a sheet of paper.
Such drawings are symbolic expressions from the subconscious mind.

While it is possible to spend years learning about millions of tiny nuances,
the vast majority of subconscious drawing can be defined via several
standard shapes. These shapes are so embedded into our subconscious
minds that they are universal. You will find these same shapes and
symbols in every culture. In fact Dr. Rhine's "E.S.P. Cards" meant for
psychic testing naturally drew on these very same symbols.

Chances are you are already aware of these shapes or symbols. All you
need now is to understand their subconscious meanings. Fortunately you
already know the meanings subconsciously. Our only remaining task then
is to help you focus your conscious mind on this inner knowledge.

o

CIRCLE

A circle has to do with an experience of unity and wholeness. It

represents a desire to unite the client in a way that they feel part of a
whole.

A circle is drawn with one single line. This symbol then is also equal

to the symbolic meanings of the number 1. The number ONE (1) indicates
individuality. By perfecting one's self, a unity with others can be achieved.
The number ONE (1) also indicates a beginning or initiation into a new way
of life or understanding.

+

EQUAL ARM CROSS

A cross with arms of equal length represents partnership and

balance. It is a symbol of integration between the conscious and
subconscious minds, and in all aspects of the client's life. Cooperation is
also a key word for cross-like symbols.

A cross is drawn with two strokes or lines. This symbol then is also

related to the number 2. The number TWO (2) indicates a reflection of
something, although the true source is something else (like a reflection
seen in a mirror). TWO (2) also has to do with the integration of memories
into proper perspective in one's life.

U

TRIANGLE

A triangle has to do with focus. This is easy to see because all the

lines of the triangle come together at a focused point. For this same
reason the triangle stands for goals and dreams. This symbol means that
the client is or should be focused on accomplishing their goals and
dreams. Dreaming is good, but dreams mean nothing without clear focus.

Since a triangle is drawn with three lines it corresponds to the

number 3. The number THREE (3) has to do with creativity and
subconscious expansion of a conscious focus. Here you can see how the
symbol of the triangle completely expresses both focus and expansion of
that focus.

†

SQUARE

A square is a symbol of foundation. It represents stability and

security. It indicates order and plans that result in a solid physical creation.
In other words, this symbol is about putting plans into action and the
results that come from both planning and taking action. After all, to have a
solid foundation for a house you have to not only "plan", you have to "act"
on those "plans" for the foundation to be real.

Because there are four equal lines in the drawing of a square, the

number 4 relates to this symbol. The number FOUR (4) has to do with
proper measurement. You will notice that this is exactly what a "square" is.
The client must accurately measure their situation in life. Tangents, far
flung outbursts etc. are not truly accurate measurements. FOUR (4) hints
at securing a clear and appropriate order of one's life to create a firm
foundation.

17

background image

At first you may think "How can I ever remember all of that?". Then again
you might be thinking to yourself "I knew some of that stuff from
somewhere". Whatever your initial response to these symbols, a few
moments examining them will help you make the connections between the
meanings and the symbols.

You will notice that the meanings of the symbols are actually quite logical.
The symbols visibly represent the various meanings. Take a few moments
to review the meanings and see how these things are hinted at by the
various shapes themselves. You'll find you don't have to "memorize" these
meanings. Rather, the meanings reveal themselves to you simply by
examining the shapes of the symbols themselves.

It's important for you to know that these meanings have not been created
based on some arbitrary decisions. The meanings we have detailed can
be found across all cultures, in all periods of time.

These symbols and related meanings are completely backed up in
traditional psychology, as well as the most ancient of symbolic texts.
These descriptions are not "Mentalists Choice" assignments that fit only
because we say they do.

Understand that you can be completely accurate by using the symbols and
meanings as we have given them to you. The most educated person in
these matters will agree with our descriptions. Make them yours.

If you haven't reviewed the symbol descriptions do so now. See how the
symbols show you what their various meanings are. Once you have done
this again, we can continue on.

In S.A.R. the client is never instructed to draw the symbols you have just
learned about. They are simply told to "doodle". Once they are finished it is
your job to see where there are versions of these symbols "hiding out".

If you look carefully at someone else's "doodles" you will notice there are
places where "lines cross" for example. This can be an indication of the
cross symbol.

Since the client draws their doodles in colors in S.A.R., the colors forming
the cross can tell you even more about what the client is trying to
"integrate" or "tie together". We'll talk more about the colors in a moment.

18

background image

When you notice circular doodles or scribbles then you know that these
are similar to the circle symbol and its meanings. Look to see if the circle is
complete or if it's only a partially drawn circle. This will tell you how well the
client is doing at accomplishing the meanings of a circle.

Look for anything that might be like a triangle. Is the "point" of the triangle
clear and well defined? Is the triangle a little "unbalanced" or wildly "out of
whack"? If so, then this is what the client is expressing about their abilities
to successfully "focus" or "expand" on that focus.

Look for hidden square shapes. Are the lines of the squares equal? What
does this say about the client's ability to make things "orderly"? What does
this indicate about the client's ability to "measure things accurately"?

If you think about these things at all, you will realize that you already have
an idea of what these shapes and variations tell you about the client.

You will find that you can easily understand the significance inherent in
"doodles" now that you are consciously aware of the basic symbols and
their meanings.

Of course there are many more symbols that can happen in a client's
drawing. Keep your focus on the four basic shapes we have described.
After you have analyzed these shapes and meanings, you can expand on
other things that you notice.

You will see that there is a special sheet explaining further shapes and
symbols in your "papers". You can look at this sheet and get more
information during your session by apparently helping the client "walk
through" the analysis information they will be taking home.

You will have more than a few "cheat sheets" in front of you during your
sessions. These sheets appear to be just a part of the packet of papers
that the client takes with them after their session. "Explaining" a few
"examples" in the paperwork seems helpful to the client. Little do they
know it secretly helps you too!

So you really don't need to "memorize" all these things. Just recall the
basics. Then elaborate as you feel like elaborating. Next talk to the client
about the "papers" and briefly point out a few examples. Don't read the
papers word for word. That's boring. Just glance at a few examples that
apply, and talk about any key words or phrases that you notice.

19

background image

Remember, the client will be taking these papers home and reading them
for themselves. That will cover anything you might "miss".
We hope you are beginning to get a feel for what we're up to by now.
There are only a few basic things to keep in mind. The rest will be right in
front of you in black and white during your sessions!

You'll have a great "logical" excuse for looking at the set of papers. You're
helping the client after all. You're just pointing out how much insightful
information they get to take home! (We couldn't make this any easier and
still be deemed "legitimate".)

Let's move on now. You can always go back and review all of this again
later.

You probably don't know that you already know a lot about another
category of symbols. "Like what" you ask?

How about the meanings you already have associated with certain colors?
True you may not consciously understand all of the deeper hints that
colors traditionally carry with them. But you do have a basic understanding
of colors. Even if you are "color blind" we bet you have heard of the "blues"
or know that "seeing red" carries with it a feeling of intense energy.

Now we'll examine the colors that are used in S.A.R. You'll probably be
surprised at how much these meanings make sense to you too:

RED: Active, physical, passion, desire, energy, taking action, conscious
mind.

YELLOW: Sunshine, positive outlook, inspiration, mental attention.

GREEN: Growth, creativity (all growth creates something), expansion,
expanded ideals especially in the area of Love and Unity.

BLUE: Water, emotions, subconscious depths and flow (the cause of
"emotions"), calm, internalized focus ("Still waters run deep").

PURPLE: The combination of RED (Conscious mind/Physical) and BLUE
(Subconscious mind/Emotional/Mental). This is obviously a desire to
balance or blend the conscious activities with subconscious programs.
PURPLE is a symbol of "Royalty" because those who achieve such a
balance of the two "minds" are historically unique and special indeed.

20

background image

BLACK: Mystical insights, inner depth, depression, ignorance, vast
expansion. Indicates boundaries and limits in the form of line drawings.

BLANK AREAS: On your client papers this is sneakily worded as VOID to
the second power or "Vast Void". This just sounds more technical and
"scientific". Science and psychology do this a lot. It makes little things
seem incredibly complicated and important.

Blank spaces are just indicating areas not completed by the client

yet. They are "works in progress" or "voids awaiting more information".
Void or blank spaces are areas where the client feels they are "lacking"
somehow.

If you stop and consider these meanings as they relate to colors, you will
find that you already know many of these things intuitively. The meanings
you didn't know make sense once you think about them logically.

Review these colors and meanings a few times and you will suddenly
notice that you "have them down" in no time at all.

Again this is because your subconscious mind has been aware of these
meanings from the start. The only thing left to do is to focus your
conscious mind on these ideas.

You might also choose to consider how the various colors are placed next
to each other in the client's drawing. Does a red line intersect with a blue
line for instance? What does this indicate? Are there yellow circles near
big black "holes"? What might you say about that?

You don't have to consider these color relationships, but it sure gives you
more options to play with and "analyze". Something to consider.

Our interpretations of the meanings of colors will pass the most rigorous
tests of scrutiny by those who are truly informed about subconscious
symbolism. These meanings cut through a wide variety of cultures and
periods of time. They remain the same nonetheless.

Only uneducated frauds and well meaning but gullible types would ever
debate such definitions. And even these folks eventually tend to agree.
After all, their subconscious mind works with these same meanings. Deep
inside, they have to agree in the end.

We are aware that in magic and mentalism there has been wide circulation
of the supposed "meanings of colors" by various authors. Only in the rarest

21

background image

of cases do these so called "definitions" have anything to do with actual
subconscious symbolism or true symbolic thought.

We believe in being accurate to the very best of our abilities. Anyone can
make up fraudulent definitions. Mentalism is full of such things. And
performers wonder why they aren't taken very seriously. You can only
build as well as your foundation is true and set. This is always our
intention, and our commitment to you.

You see, you really are receiving legitimate "training" whether you realize it
yet or not. The more legitimate information you get, the more legitimate
and confident you will feel. When you have a legitimate education about
these things, your sessions will seem very legitimate as well. They will
seem that way because they will be legitimate. That's why it's so important
that we give to you an actual Manual for Training. Once you are properly
trained, you can do almost anything with an air of legitimacy.

Review the colors again now if you haven't done so. Later you will see
further details about colors on your S.A.R. Color Analysis sheet. This is
one of the sheets of paper you will give to the client. It can also be used as
a "cheat sheet". It might help you to examine this sheet because it
contains even more expansive concepts about the colors used in S.A.R.

Believe it or not, you now have over three quarters of the system in your
mind, and you haven't even started doing it yet!

For example, you know the symbolic meaning of the numbers 1-4. The
meanings are the same as the symbols drawn with 1,2,3, or 4 lines. The
number three means the same thing essentially as a triangle.

There are a couple of ways besides the shapes to use the number
meanings in your session.

First look for any doodle that comes very close to being a written number
1-4. If you see such a number "hiding out", talk about that meaning.
Second there is a paper called "Numerical Analysis". This is for when you
see a number of like patterns in the client's doodle. For instance you might
notice there are THREE distinct CIRCLE type shapes. Since there are
three markings that are basically identical, this indicates that the meaning
of the number three (or triangle) can be applied to your analysis of the
drawing.

If you found TWO SQUARES, you could talk about the meaning of a
square and talk about the symbolic meaning of the number TWO (cross).

22

background image

The paper titled "Numerical Analysis" is simply a reminder of the meanings
of the numbers. Look it over. You will notice that it expands on the basic
meanings you know. Again this is a sheet that the client takes home (more
paper, more legitimacy).

You will rarely use the last three categories on the "Numerical Analysis"
paper. The "Five Identical Markings" is self explanatory of course. The last
two categories might confuse you a bit. That's good because they are
meant to seem more scientific and important than they actually are.

The "E Factor" just means that the client has doodled all over the paper
and has hardly any blank space left at all (E stands for "Excessive"
doodling)!

If this is the case, just say in your own words what such doodling indicates.
Actually you probably have a good idea of what that might indicate
anyway. Just look over the paper to be certain.

The "S Factor" is likewise a scientific blind of intellectual nonsense. But it
sounds good. The "S" stands for "Subexcessive" which is no more a real
word than a lot of other psycho-mumbo jumbo. Just think quietly to
yourself "S stands for Simple" because that's all "Subexcessive" really
means anyway.

The "S Factor" just indicates that the client has made "simple doodles".

When in doubt, just look at the paper while pointing out the category to the
client. Just be sure to say "The S Factor here indicates" or "The E Factor
reveals that" such and such. This will make you sound like you are used to
speaking in such gobbledegoop - a sure indication that you are well
educated in your field!

You will also find a paper entitled "Analysis of Symbolism". This describes
in expanded detail the meanings of symbols you already know.

It also names other common symbols and their meanings. Look at this
paper and you will realize that once again you "pretty much know" what
these different symbols mean.

After naming the basic symbols, colors and numbers of identical shapes,
you can elaborate on other client symbols by using this "Analysis of
Symbolism" sheet.

23

background image

The last example on the "Analysis of Symbolism" sheet called
"Alphabetics" might need a bit more explanation. "Alphabetics" simply
means shapes that look like letters in the alphabet. "Alphabetics" just
sounds more important than "letters in the alphabet".

One last basic thing to keep in mind about doodles is this:

Straight Lines are about the conscious mind and logical, physical
activities.

Curved Lines are about the subconscious mind and emotional,
imaginative mental activities.

With this in mind you can "analyze" a great deal. Consider how the colors
are used with the type of lines drawn. Is there a red line that is curved and
bending? Is there a blue line that is clear and straight? What does this
possibly indicate to you?

What if a green line was curved? What might you say about a purple line
that was scribbled all over the place?

Again you will find that by combining meanings and symbols you can have
some very "complex" sounding interpretations. Fortunately all you have to
know are the basics. Then combine them as you see fit.

The more options you have, the more comfortable and accurate you can
be. Use what you want to use. Let the papers fill in the rest later!

We're almost ready for you to give all of this a "test run".

Before you do, there is one more "paper" for you to consider. This is the
sheet marked "Clinical Focus Statements". Pull out this sheet from your
papers now if you don't already have it in front of you.

You will notice that this sheet has many statements on it. Each statement
has a keyword underlined within that statement. This sheet of statements
serves several functions.

To the client, this sheet contains various statements that they are told to
focus on several times a day. They need not read all of the statements.
They can focus only on the ones that you have checked off or highlighted
for them at the end of the session.

24

background image

How do you know which statements apply to the client? Well, the
"keywords" match the various symbols, colors, and other indications in the
client's drawing! All you have to do is quickly "scan" for the keywords that
match what you have said to the client during their session!

You generally do this at the end of the session, just before the client
leaves. You could of course do this as you go through the analysis - your
choice. Do what feels most comfortable to you.

You may be familiar with "tick sheets" in mentalism readings. While the
underlined keywords serve to help you give a more in-depth analysis, you
should know that these statements are not just "tick sheet" statements.

In fact these statements serve another function altogether. These
statements are specially designed to work on both the conscious and
subconscious levels of the client's awareness at the same time.

How can this be? Each statement is actually two suggestions combined.
The "keyword" secretly signals the end of the first suggestion and the
beginning word of the second suggestion.

So what does this mean? The conscious mind can only focus on one
meaning at a time. While the conscious mind looks at the suggestion it
most agrees with and understands, the subconscious mind grasps the
other suggestion hinted at in the sentence.

No matter what the client tends to focus on consciously within the
statement, the other suggestion gets implanted subconsciously!

Never reveal the true double workings of the "Clinical Focus Statements".
To tell the client how these amazing statements work is to diminish their
effectiveness. If a client's conscious mind is alerted to the arrangement of
the words, the subconscious mind of the client will have less chance to
"sneak by" the client's conscious mind with these important messages!

As you go through the keywords that apply to the client's analysis, use a
highlight magic marker to mark the sentences that apply. If you don't want
to use such a marker, then you can put a check mark next to the
applicable sentences.

A highlighter is common in serious business and study work. The marker
itself makes a secondary suggestion to the subconscious mind of the client
that what you're doing is "serious and significant". We suggest that you

25

background image

use such a marker if at all possible. It also distinguishes your "analysis"
from "psychic tick sheets".

Do whatever you feel works best for you.

After marking the statements that apply, you can highlight a few others that
you think might help the client. Tell your client that these statements will
help deepen the subconscious changes that have just taken place. Instruct
the client that they will notice even more amazing results in their life if they
will read the marked statements twice a day. Suggest to the client to read
these once early in the morning when they awake, and once again just
before they go to sleep.

If the client will do this, the statements can produce tremendous results.
Be sure you suggest to the client that they follow your instructions if at all
possible.

Then say no more. Let the client choose to do this on their own. If you
"brow beat" the client to "do their homework" because "it's for their own
good", they are likely to respond like a rebellious child in school.

Suggest that they read the statements to deepen the impact of the
reprogramming, and then remind them that this is of course entirely up to
them. Allow your clients their freedom and they will generally choose to
help themselves. This is usually why they came to you for analysis
anyway.

We're sure that all the things at work in this system are starting to sink into
your mind now, so let's give it a test run!

You will see a paper entitled "Subconscious Analysis and Reprogramming
: Client Representation". The sheet is primarily a blank sheet of paper with
a black line running through the middle. Under this middle line are the
words "Reprogramming Redraw".

Take this sheet out now.

Also have ready all of your writing implements such as the colored pencils,
highlighter, etc.

You will learn best how S.A.R. really works by doing an analysis of your
own doodles first.

26

background image

Yes, we are aware that at this point you will have been influenced a bit by
all you have learned. That's perfectly OK. In fact, it will prove to you that
you cannot "fake out" the S.A.R. system.

Put the Client Representation paper on your clipboard or some other flat
and steady writing surface. Draw only on the top half of the paper. The
blank space below the line will be used later for reprogramming. (You
might want to fold the paper on the line just to be sure you don't cross it.)

To begin, just pull out any color of pencil you want to begin with. In a
moment you will place this pencil on the paper and turn your head away as
you mindlessly "doodle". We ask that you turn your head so that you do
not consciously try to doodle something based on what you now know. In
fact, you cannot actually doodle precisely with your head turned - at least
not consciously.

When doing S.A.R. with a client you will not have them turn their head
away. Some S.A.R. Technicians do this, but it isn't necessary. You can if
you like. It's just a matter of preference. You decide if this is truly
appropriate for you and your clients.

After you doodle with your first color, stop when you feel like it and choose
another color. Turn your head and doodle some more. Then choose
another color and doodle again. Continue this with as many colors as you
like, for as long as you want to continue.

Stop when you feel satisfied that you have done enough.

These are exactly the same instructions you will give to your clients.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Notice that we keep saying doodle not "scribble" or
"draw". If you tell a client to "scribble" they might make one heck of a nasty
mess for you to deal with!

If you say "draw", then the client might get very concerned if they don't feel
they are "an artist". Everything in the S.A.R. System is carefully planned
out for specific reasons.

Be certain that you tell your clients to "just make some doodles".

So begin now by placing your chosen first color on the paper, turn your
head and doodle. Do this for as long as you like with as few or as many
different colors as you like. When you are finished we'll help you analyze
your own doodles.

27

background image

It's important that you do this now.

Once you are finished you will go through your own doodle and check it
against the shapes, colors and numbers you know about.

First however, there is one little thing we have kept secret from you until
you completed your initial doodling.

The order in which you chose your various colors also means something of
importance too!

The first color you chose of course has a meaning on the color analysis
paper. But since you chose to use this color first it is also an indication of
how you like to see yourself. This doesn't mean this is truly how you are.
The first color choice is simply an indication of how you like to think of
yourself as being. You may or may not actually be that right now.

The second color choice indicates strengths you naturally have within you.
You're probably already aware of these strengths. You may have forgotten
about these strengths, or been ignoring that you have them. Nonetheless
this second color is an indication of inherent strong qualities that you
already have.

The third color choice, if you have made one, indicates that which you
need to explore the most. This color and it's order of choice indicates core
issues that must be dealt with! Ignoring these issues will tend to keep a
person "stuck" in their old rut or pattern. To be completely whole and
satisfied with one's life, this third color choice is a key factor to be
managed.

If a fourth color was selected, the meanings of this color indicate past
challenges that have influenced you deeply, and brought you to your
current viewpoint and situation in your life.

Unused colors can indicate those areas you feel are of little value or just
too tedious to be bothered with. Sometimes these colors represent areas
that a person might need to reconsider, but the person is likely to be
strongly against reconsidering these things.

Now chances are this alone has told you much about yourself. Even if you
think you aren't sure what order you chose the colors in, the indications
can tell you what colors you probably chose and why.

28

background image

Of course you could make a mental note of the color order the client
chooses during the session. You might also want to write a number by
each color chosen on your color analysis sheet. This can help you in
evaluating the client when they are finished doodling.

We remind you again that this is another wonderful option you may use in
your analysis during your S.A.R. sessions. As always, you can pick and
choose as you see fit. It is certainly a very powerful option to consider.

Now continue analyzing your own drawing. Consider any obvious shapes
you see. Look for hidden versions of the four basic shapes. Consider the
deviations in these shapes and what that tells you.

Look at the symbol analysis paper and consider what else might apply to
your doodle.

Consider what the colors themselves indicate. Consider the relationship of
the colors to each other. Consider the color of the shapes. What do these
things indicate?

Look for hidden numbers 1-4 if there are any. What do these say? Look for
numbers of identical shapes and symbols. What other information does
this provide?

Is there an abundance of curved or straight lines? What does this tell you?

Are there any alphabetic letters obviously seen or being hinted at?

Are there blank spaces? Is there an overly elaborate bunch of details?

Consider as many different aspects as you can based on all that you
know.

Look at the Clinical Focus Statements and look for keywords that apply to
the indications you have noticed. Highlight some of the statements that
have keywords that apply to your analysis. Then highlight a few more
statements "randomly" just for good measure. Your own subconscious
mind will really highlight the statements that are important, even if you
consciously think they are "random".

When you are finished doing all of this, you will be ready to "reprogram"
your own subconscious mind!

29

background image

You will now redraw your doodles so that they better symbolically fit what
you want you want your life to be like.

You can choose the same or different colors. You can draw less or more
than you did before. You can choose shapes that better represent what
you want out of life.

The idea is to redraw below the line and make a new picture of the new life
you desire. So just draw out your new life the way you want to see it now.
Do this on the second half of the page below the midway line.

Do this now, and we'll continue once you are happy with your new picture!

Now you have two symbolic pictures to look at. One is the original picture
that you have analyzed. It will probably look a lot less focused than the
second picture.

You will notice that in the second picture you have drawn, you get a better
idea of how and what you want your life to be like now. When you look at
both pictures at once, the second picture will just "feel better".

In the language of the subconscious you have just adjusted your life and
how it will go.

The new "picture" tells the subconscious mind how it should act from now
on. This new picture lets the subconscious know what it is to focus on and
expand in your life.

The conscious mind also has a new focus. It can logically see the
difference between it's "old picture" and the "new view" it is to pay attention
to. Since the conscious mind was involved in the reprogramming, this mind
also knows consciously what each color and shape mean. It understands
these new symbols, and just glancing at them will remind you to maintain
an appropriate point of view.

By looking at the old picture and noticing how it feels, you get a sense
about "the old you". By examining and realizing how the new picture feels,
you get a clearer sense of "the new you".

Look at both pictures for a moment, and then fold back the top picture so
that you can see only the new one. Consciously think about the changes
you have made in this new picture and what they represent.

30

background image

Do this for a few minutes. If you will do this twice a day, once in the
morning and once at night before going to bed, you will soon see dramatic
changes in your life within a week or two.

Add in the Clinical Focus Statements that are highlighted, and you'll speed
up both the time and the amount of impact all of this has on your life. Often
within a few days you will notice the changes starting to happen.

If you will continue to do this follow up procedure to the reprogramming
sequence you will be duly impressed with the improvements in your life. Of
course whether you do this or not is up to you.

By now you will have a real life understanding of how S.A.R. works and
what it can do for you. By doing your own S.A.R. analysis for yourself, you
will be able to feel the difference this system makes.

If you haven't followed through with actually doing your own drawing at this
point, the next little information will be of no value to you.

Only after experiencing S.A.R. will you understand and be completely
confident in its workings. So do the test on yourself now before going any
further, if you haven't done this already!

This takes us to the last few things you need to know about how S.A.R.
works.

There are a few remaining hidden principles at work ...

In the reprogramming sequence notice that there is an important word that
makes the reprogramming possible.

This single linguistic deception allows you to create dramatic changes.
Yes, it is an "illusion", but remember an illusion doesn't mean it doesn't
work!

This special word is the word redraw. You will not find it in most
dictionaries. It is a special word meant to get the subconscious mind's
attention, while it tells the conscious mind exactly what it is to do.

Remember that we were quite clear in the beginning to state that you
should "doodle" - not "scribble" or "draw".

31

background image

But in the reprogramming sequence we state with equal clarity that you
should "redraw your picture to better fit what you want".

Obviously this means that a "dramatic change" simply must take place.
After all there is quite a bit of difference between "mindlessly doodling" and
"redrawing a picture"!

So now you see how a change in the client's drawing is absolutely
guaranteed. The drawing has to change because the way you tell them to
"draw" dramatically changes.

By telling the client to redraw the picture to better fit what they want in their
lives, the client's conscious mind gets involved.

As we have made clear to you, when the conscious mind focuses on
something, the subconscious mind expands and elaborates on this same
thing. When the conscious mind is focused on personal changes for a
better life, the subconscious mind places it's influence on this as well.

So naturally very real changes take place!

Add to this that the redraw still uses colors, shapes and other symbols that
the subconscious mind understands, and you have both "minds" working
for you at their maximum power and creativity.

Now perhaps you see how powerful changes really do take place through
the use of positive illusion making. The "proof" is in the results. The "proof"
happens because you make the proof happen. The client's "minds" take it
from there!

You will also notice how viewing the new picture twice a day, and reading
the highlighted statements twice a day, can further the process of change.
The more your clients will focus attention on their changes, the more
quickly these changes will go to work in their lives.

Having completed your own drawings and analysis, you have completed
the main training of this system.

We suggest that you read this Training Manual a couple of times to let all
this information really "sink in". It will help train both your conscious and
subconscious minds to see all of these indications quickly and easily.

It will also allow you to feel even more comfortable and secure with S.A.R.

32

background image

Please try out S.A.R. on your friends and family before going out to market
yourself to the public if at all possible. This will aid you more than a
hundred doodles on your own.
You are of course already quite prepared. Just a few more practical
applications will put you securely on your way!

If you think there are still more devious little helpful devices involved in this
system, you are correct. As we said at the start, there is no way that we
could possibly detail all of the amazing principles used in this system.

Here are a few last examples of the complexities you won't ever have to
remember, but are working for you anyway:

The use of colored pencils were chosen for some very specific reasons.
"Pencils" tend to remind people of education. They are also concerned
with tests and testing. Pencils are often used by scientists and
psychologists to insure accuracy. Pencils can "erase mistakes". This of
course has several meanings to the subconscious mind. We weren't
always so smart however.

Years ago we began doing S.A.R. with crayons. The reason for this was
that it could be possible that crayons would bring up "childlike memories".
The subconscious mind is also quite "childlike" in many ways, so crayons
certainly fit into the subconscious realm.

The catch was some people became too "childlike". Some saw crayons
and reverted to making childhood scribbles all over the place! Other folks
(like Tank) were taught that when using crayons they must always stay
well within "the lines". They were also taught to be "extremely careful" with
crayons.

After much research we dropped the crayons. We did more research and
experimentation until receiving consistent results with colored pencils. Now
you know why we use them.

More about The Colored Pencils:

You will probably notice that even the colored pencils used in S.A.R. are
special. These are water color type pencils. There are numerous reasons
for this.

Of course “water” as we have discussed is a symbol signifying the
subconscious mind. This puts the tools that are used for subconscious
expression well within a realm of symbolism of the subconscious. The

33

background image

subconscious instantly understands the hinted at meaning, even though
the client’s conscious mind will rarely notice this.

There is another benefit that you may want to take advantage of in your
sessions. We have provided a brush that you may dip into a glass of clear
water. Give this water soaked brush to the client and have them “fade” the
old picture (above the line) with the watered brush.

This is a further symbolic expression for the subconscious mind to let the
“old picture” blur from the client’s view. In a sense this is a symbolic
erasure of the past programming. It isn’t required that you do this. It is
simply another powerful option you have at your disposal when you wish to
do more “intensive and expansive” sessions.

And of course the subconscious loves the idea of “water” changing a
picture, because this is a strong metaphor for the precise mechanism at
work at the subconscious level. This is true. It also sounds good. Make
sure you repeat similar words when you use this technique and your client
(and their subconscious mind) will be duly impressed!

If you add this option to a session be sure you have clean clear water. This
is important symbolically. If you cannot do this, at least hide the condition
of the murky water in a opaque glass.

You will also need to have handy clothes, paper towels or handy-wipe
implements to help the client clean themselves after the session. Don’t
forget this! It can be potentially awkward and unprofessional if you forget to
provide appropriate cleaning tools

You see we really have tried to think of everything on many levels all at
once! Is it any wonder why S.A.R. works so effectively?!

The highlighter is now yellow for a specific reason. Look at your color
analysis sheet and you'll see why we selected yellow for the highlight
color.

Clipboards suggest "scientific studies", "research", "analysis", "significant
details", "serious focus", "authority", etc. when used in this type of
situation. Most mentalist clipboards are used as a "table" and have little to
do with "scientific" anything.

The ungaffed clipboard used in this system is of more value to you
psychologically than a closet full of "impression boards". We played with

34

background image

many gimmicked boards to see if we could fit them into S.A.R in a
legitimate and meaningfully important way.

The facts are, using the clipboard as a research tool is far superior than
changing the system around to fit a "gaffed" clipboard.

If you have to use a gimmicked board, do it at your own risk. Just be
absolutely certain the trade off is honestly worth it.

There is also a reason for the "reprogramming" drawing to be done under
the line on the paper. This is another symbolic signal to the subconscious
mind that the new symbols fall into its territory (below the obvious line).

Notice too that below the center line is written the words "Reprogramming
Redraw". These words of course remind you to say the keyword redraw .
But more devious than this is how "reprogramming" and "redrawing" are
indirectly linked together. The subconscious mind automatically links these
two words together as one, and expands on this base premise. The
subconscious equation is essentially "Redrawing = Reprogramming".
Those of you who own Wonder Words will realize this is a version of a
"Complex Generalization".

These are not principles you really have to know. But we figured if we
shared with you just a small portion of how this system was secretly
constructed, you'd begin to understand why S.A.R. is truly unique and
inherently powerful.

Besides, isn't it kind of fun knowing these things?

Well school is almost "out". Before you can go home and "play" you know
what happens. What do you have to do to leave school with your diploma?

That's right, you have to take and pass an "exam". We don't make you do
this to be bossy teachers. We really do care about how this system is
used, and who is using it.

That's the main reason for the "test". Of course it can be an "open book
test" because you have the book in front of you!

On the paper in your materials marked "TEST ANSWERS", write out the
answers to the questions that follow. Submit your answers along with your
full name and address. Send to the C.A.S.P. address you have listed in
this Training Manual.

35

We will verify your responses and send your S.A.R. Certified Technician
diploma to you. Be sure that you include your address and spell your name
clearly - the way you want it printed on your diploma.
There is no extra fee for this certification. If you would like to upgrade your
certificate to a "Top Level" certification, you can do so only when we do
Training Seminars. Admittedly, this extremely rare.

Once you are on file at the C.A.S.P. you will receive all the latest updates,
new releases and so forth. Being on file means that when we do one of our
rare in person Trainings, we can look you up in our files and you'll receive
the Top Level Training at a greatly reduced discount.

And now for the "test":

1. What does a square shape indicate?

2. What happens if you try to negatively program a client?

3. How many times should a client review the reprogram drawing and
focus statements each day for total effectiveness?

4. When do you call yourself a psychologist?

5. What do you do if someone insists on knowing about your training, etc.

6. How can you prove that S.A.R. really works?

7. Why use an ungimmicked clipboard?

8. What is your name?

9. What is your address?

10. What does the second color choice indicate?

11. What word is used to "reprogram" the client?

12. What does the number three indicate?

13. What does the color green indicate?

BONUS QUESTION: Whophlungpoo? (You don't really have to figure this
out! If you do have an answer, believe me we're impressed.)

Going About Your Business:

We want you to know that S.A.R. can become a very legitimate and
successful business for you. For this to happen, you have to treat your
S.A.R. work like a business.

While you are not necessarily a licensed Doctor or Therapist, many of the
same aspects do apply to your S.A.R. business.

Remember you are always attempting to help people discover how to help
themselves. S.A.R. can provide the tools and insights necessary to
accomplish this important goal.

When you truly help people to help themselves, they will often refer
friends, family and relations to you for your services. To take advantage of
this situation, we give to you an open letter by one of this country's most
successful therapists.

While this letter is directed at Doctors and other professionals with training
you may not have, the ideas expressed in this letter certainly apply to the
services you offer with S.A.R.

We repeat, never represent yourself as anything other than what you
legitimately are
! You are a S.A.R. Technician. Do not call yourself a
"psychologist" or "therapist" unless you have the appropriate degrees and
papers to back you up!

With this in mind, we feel that the following letter will remind you of just
how much potential there is out there for helpful services. The business
approach detailed in this letter will serve you quite well - if you follow
through on these ideas.

While this is good advice for anyone in mentalism or magic, it especially
applies to you as an S.A.R. Technician.

We have bolded out areas of this letter for you to pay close attention to.
We have also altered the original letter, deleting that which is not within the
realm of S.A.R.

The letter from Dr. Kevin Grold is as follows:

"Referrals make up the bedrock of your private practice and therefore
should be treated like gold
. Unfortunately, many physicians take their
referrals for granted and do not handle them with the care they deserve."

"Often, a referral will be given to a physician and the referral source is
left wondering
whether the patient information was received by the
physician and whether or not to select another professional in the
future
."

"EVERY TIME someone gives you a referral, they are evaluating whether
they have made a good decision, and whether to refer to you again. Thus
it is well worth your time to let the referral source know that you
appreciate the fact that they chose you
."

"No matter where the referral comes from, be sure to follow up and let
the referring party know that you are handling the matter
professionally
. Also inquire about any information that might be helpful
with your treatment plan (after you have obtained your patient's approval)."

"Always follow up your referrals with a thank you postcard and a call.
Then, after your first session, if appropriate, let the referral source
know that the referral was appropriate and that they made a correct
selection in choosing your services
."

"These efforts will help the person referring to you to feel involved in the
process
and he or she will be more likely to continue referring to you in
the future."

"When a patient comes in for the first time, passing through your
door is a potential lifetime of business
. Consider that one patient can
easily increase your income over a year's worth of treatment by $4160. If
this patient refers 2 new patients to you and they in turn each refer 1
patient, then after a year, your income can increase by a total of $20,800
just as a result of that first referral."

"This won't happen with all patients, but some will show up at your
office who CAN afford your fees, who WILL come to see you for many
years, and who WILL refer their spouse, children, and friends
. In a

40

background image

business sense, each new referral should be viewed as the top of a
large pyramid or as a potential for increased business and income
."

"Each inquiring phone call is an important commodity because it can
generate income EVEN IF it does not directly result in a patient entering
your office. For instance, if you refer a patient to an agency or another
professional, you can expect referrals back in the future."

"As you can see, every referral to your office is a potential for networking.
Although many physicians are uncomfortable with the marketing aspect of
building a successful practice, a person who is referred to your office is
much easier to work with than approaching members of the
community without any introduction
."

"So realize that calls to your office are openings and invitations for you
to build connections
. If you cultivate your referrals, then your family
practice will continue to grow and prosper
."

Kevin Grold, Ph.D. is a marketing expert, winner of Entrepreneur
Magazine's Business of the Year Award, and the President of the national
1-800-THERAPIST referral service. This referral service matches callers
with a therapist anywhere in the United States.

Now we would like to relate just a couple of real life stories.

One of the very first times that the S.A.R. system was used just happen to
be at a typical magic convention. The client was a young lady who was a
magicians assistant. Obviously she knew about trickery and in fact she
had witnessed dozens of other readings. Some she claimed were actually
good - most, however, were not so good. Upon completion of the session,
she was not only amazed of the accuracy of the reading, but she also said
that it was quite different from all the others.

After spending a fair amount of time together at the convention, when it
came time to part ways, my new friend actually had done another redraw
for me as a ‘gift’. I was quite touched. Not only did she find the reading so
interesting and helpful, but the fact that she thought to give me such a nice
present said a lot about what the system meant to her. That picture still
hangs on my wall to this day.

There is another client story that I would like to share with you. This was
one of my first corporate clients with whom I had used S.A.R.. The client
had met me at a corporate business party. As I did some of my standard
walk around magic, she asked if I could read her future? I proceeded to
give her a quick reading and mentioned that I had been using a new
system that works quite well - especially for situations such as hers. She
decided to make an appointment.

I showed up at her office and did a half hour session using just a few of the
many parts of the system. It turned out that she was curious about the
man in her life and wanted to know if he was the ‘next’ one. As it turned
out, her redraw seemed to show that this was the case. She was quite
pleased with the session and thanked me very much for helping her see
her plans more clearly.

It was about one year later that I ran into this same young lady at the same
corporate party. She took me aside and said that ‘all the things that you
showed me were right.’ I told her that I was happy to hear about her new
marriage and wished her well. She thanked me and insisted that we set
up another session to help clear up the new horizon for her.

She also announced to all the people at the function how my reading
predicted her current status. Before the end of the evening, I had done a
few more quick readings and secured a few more clients. Not bad for what
was supposed to be a “close-up “ gig!

42

With this in mind, let’s talk a little about pricing. S.A.R. is being used in a
wide variety of settings. From the very informal and relaxed coffee house,
all the way up the ladder to the corporate office of business professionals.

One way to look at how to price this is to determine how long your session
will be. In a coffee house, a real basic five or six minute session could be
very appropriate. Instead of charging a flat rate per session in a coffee
house, on occasion it is very worthwhile to let the client offer a sum that
equals how much they feel they were helped. In some of the nicer
establishments, donations of twenty dollars are not uncommon. If you only
do five of these mini-sessions an hour, that is a decent amount per hour…
and at this rate you are still only working half of the time.

You may not feel entirely comfortable allowing the client to determine your
fee at first. So, if you feel this way, it is wise for you to determine the fee
for the session. Remember, this is not only entertainment, it is also a tool
that actually helps people and your price should reflect this.

In a more corporate setting, a set fee for the session must be determined.
For a twenty-five to thirty minute session, typically there is a minimum fee
of $45.00 and up. This amount is obviously dependent on the situation in
which the session takes place.

Considering all the different options you have for any single session, a full
hour session is very easy to fill with quality material. It is important that
you keep in mind that you have many options that will allow for a long
session. Any one of the smaller parts that can be added can also be taken
out just as simply for a brief session.

The main point is that no matter what the situation is, S.A.R. can easily be
adjusted for the ‘perfect’ session. If you are interested in doing longer
sessions for more money, just incorporate more of the system. If you
would rather do just small quick sessions, only do the basics. And no
matter where you fall in the middle of the extremes, there are enough
options within the system to fit any situation perfectly.

We hope you will give these important business ideas worthy
consideration. If you do, and act on them, you can build quite a business
for yourself.

THE PAPERS

The following pages are copies of "The Papers" you have separately.
Notice that most of the papers are double sided. Notice too that there is a
large space for you to put your name, address, etc. on the back side of
most of these sheets.

You have been supplied with sample papers already stapled together. You
have also been supplied with "ready to be copied" versions of these. We
felt that for convenience and the sake of reference, you might like to have
these papers in your Manual too. This way if you ever lose the originals,
you can always make copies from this book!

The back of most of these pages are marked with the phrase: "For
research or/and entertainment purposes only." This is always wise, and
leaves you with a wonderful "out" that our government requires us to use.
We think it's great that our government cares so much about our success
that they supply us with a "universal out"!

We have added the words "research or/" to the "entertainment purposes
only" phraseology. This not only covers the "entertainment only"
requirement, it adds an air of potential legitimacy to the required phrase.

You see, we have made every effort through the years to take advantage
of even the smallest things! Now you can too.

Subconscious Analysis and Reprogramming

47

background image

Numerical Analysis:

1

Marking: Unity and oneness with the clients relationship to life in general.

While there are likely to be areas of the person's life that they are not addressing,

they feel they are relatively content for the most part.

2

Identical Markings: Balance of conscious and subconscious actions and

rules. This could truly be the case, however the observer must always be on the

look out for conflicting testimony by the subconscious through various

indications. This may also express a deep desire to balance an aspect of the

person's life that they know subconsciously is wildly "out of whack." In any event,

a desire for balance is being indicated.

3

Identical Markings: Concerned primarily with intensive focus. May need to

balance the physical, mental, and emotional states equally. You may wish to ask

the client to indicate his/her strongest leaning in this regard. This stronger

tendency is indeed an attribute, but may be creating disharmony and intolerance

of the other two aspects. A temporary shift to these lesser used aspects may be

required for the client to achieve balance that is truly sought.

4

Identical Markings: Indicating a desire for a solid foundation. The client may

already have this, or may only believe that this foundation exists, while actually

operating on "shaky ground." His/her response to this will tell you more, and

allow the client to admit to him/herself what they otherwise may have been

avoiding.

For research or/and entertainment purposes only

(4 Markings continued)

Caution the client to avoid blaming others. Focus in on how their own actions

can help build the stronger foundation they desire. Remind the client that

48

background image

everything - no matter how small - may be changed to build this foundation even

better. The client should be reminded not to look "outside" to others as if "the

grass is greener." The client will want to search self and discover the roots have

already been planted for proper positive growth.

5

Identical Markings: Attempting to achieve balance in all areas of life. Should

be prepared for dramatic change and understanding of self. Could cause both

temporary as well as permanent changes in environment and relationships. Be

careful not to burn bridges that are on true path to deep knowledge.

Numerically

E

xcessive Markings (E Factor): Good at details, but must be

wary of over complicating matters unnecessarily. Tendency to be overly

intellectual. Needs to act wisely without paralyzing mental analysis.

Numerically

S

ubexcessive Markings (S Factor): Tendency to see good

"overall picture" and larger view of life. Often likes to simplify things. This may

however lead to a dismissal of details whether or not this is entirely appropriate.

Client may need to examine self and life a bit more carefully to eliminate potential

problems and flaws. Caution in "dreamland" activities without physical realities.

Subconscious Analysis and Reprogramming

Color Analysis:

49

background image

RED: Conscious mind and physical action - use or lack. Little red suggests that

client may or may not like to deal with the physical aspects of life, or may be

concerned with being "excessively physical" and attempting to monitor self and

actions. Shading and amount of color will indicate various degrees. Wildly flung

red in drawing may indicate a desire to reveal more of the physical self than is

currently being demonstrated. It is important to take action - thus RED.

YELLOW: Mental and intellectual ability. Conscious focus. Also the desire to

look at life in a positive manner. Check for extreme use of color that may

indicate an inability to see things as they are, or attempts to "gloss over" some

negative aspects. It is important to use ones mind in a positive way, and yellow

is an indication of this. If one is too analytical however, there will often be very

little use of yellow. Yellow is indicative of "a bright sunny life."

GREEN: Subconscious symbol of growth. Can represent love on a large scale.

Often corresponds to creativity. This usually should have to do with personal

growth, however may also indicate a required desire for financial stability. Green

has shades of yellow involved as well as blue, thereby hinting at a link between

mental and emotional states. These combined states in a commitment to

personal growth shows clearly the color green, although not exclusively.

BLUE: Subconscious mind. Emotional State. Use tends to indicate a calm,

soothing nature, and someone who can "go with the flow." Too much blue could

indicate a person who is so emotional that they can give themselves "the blues" if

they do not keep their emotions in check. Blue is the color of the sky,

For research or/and entertainment purposes only

(Blue continued)

indicating great hopes and dreams, and unlimited potential. It is important to

remind the client that dreams need to be combined with action for those dreams

to "come true." Check against other uses of color for indications of being "self-

50

background image

absorbed." Reassure client that their fondest desires indeed have merit - they

may have to work at them however.

PURPLE: Often chosen for reasons not thoroughly understood at the conscious

level. This color blends conscious thought and action (RED) with subconscious

motivations and expansions (BLUE). This color therefore indicates a balance and

realignment between both "minds". The inner nature of client is calling for a

balanced expression outwardly. The client may need to be reminded that "actions

speak louder than words". Important that reprogramming steps be acted upon

daily to achieve this "royal balance".

BLACK: Abundance of black may indicate a form of depression, or simply a

desire to confront and understand some of life's biggest issues. Black is an

indicator of the clients boundaries, but not necessarily of their limits. Black can

be the color of inner direction and subconscious guidance. Black may indicate a

"void", but such a void may be one of peacefulness and deeper understanding. In

some cases black is symbolic of one's ignorance of important issues. Check

against symbols for further detailed analysis.

VAST VOIDS (V2 Factor): Areas where the client feels they are lacking and has

a "void" to fill. Client may or may not know what this area is, better to ask for

more information. Reassure client that these areas can indeed be filled with time

and growth.

Analysis of Symbolism:

Boxes

: Places where the client feels trapped. Look for openings and half

drawn boxes indicating release from old destructive patterns.

Triangles

: Check balance of physical, emotional and mental needs. Focus.

Circles

: Unity and connectiveness to self, life and others. Too many circles

may indicate confusion or "wheels within wheels."

Straight Lines

: Indicate focused direction or rigidness of thinking, depending

on quantity and type. Conscious mind.

Curved Lines

: Indicate areas that may need to be a bit more "straightened

out." Subconscious mind. Also shows potential for flexibility and amiability.

Pointed at or through other areas can indicate outside interference, or possibly

the clients use of personal resources directed at the outside world.

Dots

: Usually indicate areas where the client is attempting to "line up" aspects

of their life into a unified whole. The proximity of dots to one another, show how

well they are doing in this regard. Dots are also a symbol of focus. Many dots

represent "scattered focus" or "too many irons in the fire".

Stars

: Indicate hope and positive outlook on life. An abundance may indicate a

"dreamer," stuck because of lack of true action. Happiness and success being

desired and sought via positive attitudes.

For research or/and entertainment purposes only

52

background image

Moons

: Indicate contemplative, introspective side of client. Subconscious

mind. Feminine aspect.

Suns

: Indicate physical action and intellectual awareness. Conscious mind.

Masculine aspect. Analytical. Thinking to "figure out" better outcomes. Check to

see if this is balanced emotionally for a client's true success. Ultimately

"enlightenment".

Shaded Areas

: Indicate places that are either "coming together" or need to be

"erased" from the mental and emotional states. Can indicate areas where client

is hiding something from self.

Buildings

: Security, protection, shelter and a desire to construct a better

future, life, and/or world to live in. Check stability for indications as to how they

are meeting these needs.

Animals

: These are often quite personal and individualized. Ask about details.

Plants

: Indicate areas and success of clients personal growth.

Alphabetics

: Attempting to express thoughts to the conscious mind that the

client may have refused to listen to previously. Remind client to listen to his/her

inner feelings and thoughts for most appropriate actions in all situations. May be

indicative of specific person or place, referenced by initials or hinted shapes of

initials only.

Q: "What is the S.A.R. system, and how does it work?"

A: "By directly communicating with the subconscious mind, this system
can create dramatic personal changes that will benefit you in countless
ways."

Q: "What will this do for me personally?"

A: "This simple and powerful technology has the ability to improve your self
image, create more confidence, release negative patterns, and focus your
mind towards positive and supportive actions and goals."

Q: "How much effort does this take on my part?"

A: "Very, very little. Basically, you make a few simple doodles on a piece of
paper. Then your S.A.R. Technician will do all the work, as you enjoy what
is revealed!"

Q: "Does it take long to complete this process?"

A: "No. Minutes actually. Some people will want to take a bit more time to
discuss the insights that are indicated. The reprogramming sequence takes
mere minutes."

Q: "Is this reprogramming guaranteed to work?"

A: "How well it works depends on you. We can guarantee that you will
visibly see changes, and that the process will be an informative and
entertaining experience."

Q: "Is any of this embarrassing?"

A: "No! Your personal S.A.R. Technician is bound by oath never to
embarrass a client in any way. It is simply not a part of the process."
