ANSWERS
1. What is the MNS Dermaroller?
The Micro-needle Nurse System (MNS) Derma Roller is a manufactured piece of
medical instrument consisting of an ultra light weight heavy duty 8-layered plastic
roller head inlayed with 200 high quality sterilized stainless surgical steel
acupuncture needles.
2. What is it for?
The MNS Dermaroller induces the body to produce collagen for skin cell
regeneration. It is specifically designed for the treatment of
- Alopecia (Hair Loss / Hair Thinning),
- Wrinkles,
- Scars (old/ new scars, deep/light scars, acne scars, etc. (basically all types except
raised keloid scars),
- Skin Discoloration/ Hyper Pigmentation / Uneven Skin Tone
- Stretch Marks, Cellulite
- Large Pores / Open Pores, and
- Loose/ Sagging Skin
3. How does it work?
Although there are no outward signs of damage, one single micro-needle causes a
tiny wound in the skin. You cannot see it or feel it as the damage is on a minute
scale. Despite the miniscule nature of the wound, the body still acts to heal itself in
its own way.
The post traumatic response of the skin is to produce collagen and elastin-- two of
the key building blocks of skin. As we age, our body's ability to produce collagen for
the skin decreases-- resulting in our skin's inability to heal scars faster as when we
were young. Collagen and elastin induced thru micro-needling allows for skin cell
regenration transforming old skin by making them new again.
In addition to inducing collagen, micro-needling also creates channels through
which any topical substance applied to the skin's surface can be absorbed far more
easily. It is, after all, the skin's job to keep things out and piercing this shield works
well in breaking down that barrier for a limited time. (Any topical substance
applied on the skin only allows for a maximum 3-4% absorption rate. The use of the
MNS Dermaroller ups the bar at 85%).
4. What are the different sizes for? What size should I use?
The MNS Dermaroller is available in the following sizes: 0.5mm, 1.0mm, 1.5mm,
2.0mm. Different areas of concern require different needle sizes. All sizes are
available for home use except the 2.0mm. (We only sell 2.0mm to experienced users
and licensed medical practitioners.)
Best sizes to use for the following skin conditions:
Hair Thinning/ Alopecia – 0.5mm
Wrinkles/ Anti-Aging –0.5mm
Facial Whitening – 0.5mm, 1.0mm
Acne Scars (discoloration) – 1.0mm
Acne Scars (pitted) – 1.5mm, 2.0mm
Stretch Marks/ Cellulites – 1.5mm, 2.0mm

5. How do I use the MNS Dermaroller?
There are two methods of rolling: 1) Using mild pressure, rolling 3- 5 times a week;
or 2) Using hard pressure, rolling once every 2-3 weeks. The difference between
mild and hard pressure is that there is bleeding when you do the latter.
6. How should I roll?
For all skin treatments, roll the device back and forth four times in four directions
as shown below.
For Hair Loss/ Thinning Hair, each morning/night after washing your scalp, dry
well with a clean towel. Roll the MNS Dermaroller over the scalp in one direction
only (not back and forth as you will tangle your hair with the roller). Apply 1ml of
5% Minoxidil to balding areas and massage into the scalp thoroughly. If you notice
the scalp flaking after a few days, simply rub the dead skin away whilst shampooing
your hair. Treat no more than once a day, 5 times per week.
7. Is it painful? Will my skin bleed?
Using mild pressure shouldn’t draw blood. The needles of the MNS Derma Roller
are long enough to assist in the penetration of your skin care product, but will not
damage the skin or scalp in any way. It is normal for it to be a little sensitive when
first commenced, but most people report no problems after 1 week. A temporary
redness of the skin and a sensation similar to mild sunburn should be expected after
each treatment, but this should last for no more than an hour.
Using hard pressure is what is commonly done by licensed medical practitioners,
although we find quite a number of people also performing this at home. As this is a
very invasive procedure, the skin needs some time to heal so rolling CANNOT be
done more than once every 2 to 3 weeks.
8. What is the downtime or side-effects of using the dermaroller?
The average downtime is only 40 minutes to 1 hour. With mild rolling, there will be
no visible red marks on your skin the next day when you wake up (We recommend
rolling 1 to 2 hours before bedtime).
With hard-pressure rolling, there will be small traces of the needle punctures on the
skin the next day. These are NOT SCABS--- The kind you see on broken skin and
wounds. Rather, just little red dots inside the skin the size of your pores. From a
distance, they just appear like you have rosy cheeks /skin. Women can easily hide
this with their regular face powders. Men usually do not bother covering them up.
In 1-2 days, these dots rosy skin should disappear.
Clients typically prefer hard-pressure rolling on a Friday night, so their skin would
be radiantly glowing come Monday when they’re back to work.
9. How do I clean my roller?
When you have finished using the device, rinse it under running water with a soft
toothbrush and joy anti-bacterial dishwashing liquid. Rinse throughly. Make sure
you leave no cream or soap residue on the roller.
If you have used the roller with cream, or if there is bleeding, spray with SEPTOL
after washing. In the absence of septol, isopropyl alcohol may be used, but please be
warned that alcohol can shorten the lifespan of your roller by destroying the roller
adhesives. Remember, we do not offer any warranty on rollers.
Do not shake off to dry. Air drying will do. Do not put on the cap while it is still wet.
When it is completely dry, put the roller away where it will avoid damage.
Cleaning roller every after use. Before using, there is no need to clean it again,
UNLESS you haven’t used it for a long time.
10. What is a numbing cream? Do I need to put this before I roll?
A numbing cream is an anaesthetic topical preparation applied on the skin to
reduce/eliminate the feeling of pain during the rolling procedure. Whether you need
this or not would depend on your pain tolerance and amount of pressure exerted.
Generally, only 30% of our clients feel the need for this. As you get used to rolling,
there should be no more but a slight discomfort.
11. How do I use the numbing cream?
Before rolling, apply THICKLY numbing cream all over the area to be treated. Do
not apply it like you do lotion (rubbing it until the cream is thinned out and
absorbed). Doing so will render the numbing cream ineffective.
12. What topical creams/ medications do I have to apply?
Supplemental medications for the MNS Dermarolling procedure is available in our
store. (See Supplemental Meds on our Products page.) Directions on which meds to
put before, during, and after the dermarolling procedure already comes with the
medkit.
13. Do I have to purchase a medkit along with the dermaroller?
There are a number of unscrupulous sellers who sell only the unit or the roller
without advising the client to buy the proper meds. This is not adviseable because
the medkit has a lot of very important purpose. Any dermatologist will tell you that
you need to use a series of meds to supplement the dermaroller. The medkit has
meds with the ff purpose: prepares the skin/ softens it, heals it, cleans it, protects it
against infection, bacteria, redness, and swelling, and most of all, maximize roller
effectivity thru usage of the microchannels created by the roller.
Infusions like vitamin a, c, or e cream are not enough. Nor is an anti-bacterial
cream. If you do not purchase the medkits, just be sure you have all the necessary
meds. You can ask your dermatologist which meds to purchase.
14. How long before I see results?
It really depends on a number of factors: the area to be treated, the severity of the
problem, the pressure exerted, and the medications applied before/ after rolling.
Also our skin and the speed by which our bodies respond to treatment varies so we
cannot give a specific time frame for results. But as you roll, your skin will feel
lighter, tighter, and brighter almost immediately. In MNS clinical trials (see Before
& After pictures), people treating scars and wrinkles generally see results in a
week’s time. As collagen is continually induced, more significant results become
evident in 1-3 months.
15. How long will the MNS Dermaroller last? How do I know when to replace
them?
Again this depends on a number of factors: frequency of usage, type of usage/
pressure exerted (whether mild or vigorous pressure), and cleaning maintenance.
Generally, the MNS gold rollers should last anywhere from 3 to 6 months, up to
even 8 months. You will know when to replace them when the needles become
coarse or blunt making it hard/ painful when you roll.
16. What makes MNS Dermarollers better than other rollers in the market?
1. The MNS Dermarollers are composed of 8 layers totaling 200 surgical steel
needles. Rollers with lesser layers and needles wear down easily and induce
significantly less acupuncture points per square inch of skin.
2. The average lifespan of gold-plated MNS Dermarollers is 3-6 months. Some
clients even report having used it up to 8 months.
3. Unlike other rollers, the MNS Dermarollers come to you already pre-sterilized
and ready for use.
4. The MNS Dermarollers has 9001:2000 Certification, the international gold
standard in quality.
5. With practically the same and sometimes higher efficiency reviews with other
more expensive brands of rollers, the MNS Dermarollers offer the most value for
money. (
