Setting Up phpCheckout to work with PayPal IPN

To set up phpCheckout to work with PayPal Instant Payment Notification
you need to configure phpCheckout and your PayPal account.


Steps for phpCheckout



upload the separate pro*.php pages from your local machine to your web server /phpcheckout folder
open the file called configure-dist-premium.php in a non invasive html editor (http://www.editplus.com is a good free editor)
enter values for the following CONTANTS:

RECEIVER_EMAIL - an email address registered in your PayPal account - this is the paypal email account that funds will be credited to
PROCESSOR - the name of your processor - paypal or localhost
POSTTRANSACTIONSURL - the URL to post online payment transactions to using the built in form
USEREFERER - 'no' is for testing only, 'yes' will approve payments only FROM the REFERER you define below
REFERER - https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr
NOTIFYADMINWHENSALE - if 'yes' is entered an email receipt for EVERY online sale is sent to the email address on the next line
NOTIFIYADMINADDRESS - The email address which will receive notification about sales if 'NOTIFYADMINWHENSALE' is 'yes', above

save this file as 'configure.php' and upload to your web server



Steps for PayPal IPN


log in to your secure PayPal account at https://www.paypal.com
turn Instant Payment Notification on:

Profile > Selling Preferences > Instant Payment Notification Preferences > Edit > check the checkbox and clear the url box


click Save, and Log Out



Make a Test Payment


Paypal advises to setup a Personal account, in addition to your Business or Premier account, in order to test the system
_IF_ you have a second PayPal account then pay one account using the other account
you may add a test item of $1 to your phpcheckout for this purpose
