Items required

4mm (6) and 5mm (H) hook. If you don’t have a 4mm hook use a 4.25mm (G) hook instead.

White, Black & Orange Double knit/ 8ply

Red Aran/10 ply

Guidelines

At the end of each round just carry on.

Mark the start of each round and then move marker as a round is completed. You don’t need to ss at the end of the
row to join. You just carry on to make the start of the next row.

HK - hook

CH - chain

SS – Slip Stitch

SC – Single Crochet

SC Inc – Single Crochet Increase

SC Dec – Single Crochet Decrease

HDC – half double crochet

2 HDC inc– Hook 2 hdc in one stitch to increase (HDC Increase)

HDC DEC – Half double crochet decrease. Yarn over hook, through 1

stitch, yarn over hook through, hook through

next stitch, yarn over hook pull through. Yarn over hook and pull through all the loops.

Gauge

7 sts & 6 rows = 2”

If your hat is coming out too big go down one hook size and vice versa if it’s too small.

Sizing guide:

45.72cm – 50.80 cm 18” – 20” approx. size around. 20.32cm 8” high

This Hat fits most ages 3 yrs + as they usually stretch. If you are wanting to make it larger add another row of HDC
increases and add another row to the pattern.

Mouth

To make the mouth you put your hook from front to back and pull a loop of yarn through. You then move to the
next hole and put the hook from front to back and pull a loop through the hat and the loop you have on the hook.

Carry on till you make the shape of a mouth.

Attach everything to the hat
